Will this seated dime slab?

Bought a group of toned seated dimes from a older Las Vegas area collector/dealer. Purchase was made around 1997. He insisted the toning resulted from years in kraft envelopes, in particular this 1860 dime being stored since 1952.

I don't think these coins were AT'ed but also question whether PCGS or NGC will holder this coin. What are your thoughts before I spent $30. I have a buyer, but only if the coin is holdered.

Thanks......

First off I really like the coin...nothing I hate worse than a weakly struck dime. That strike is full and that is rare.

As far as the toning, it could go either way...It is hard to say without the coin in hand, but I think it is probably fine.

Nice looking coin. The toning appears natural and looks like it occured over a long period of time. I'm guessing they would slab it.

    Gerry,

Based on the photo's I see nothing that would prevent this coin from holdering. Looks very nice and the toning looks original IMO. I would not hesitate submitting.

    Jim D and others,

Thanks for the comments. I felt the same way but wanted to test other eyeballs. Too many times, I've had dimes come back for AT from the services (since I prefer toned coins). This one may still be judged that way, but there does appear to be a reasonable chance of securing a holdered grade.

In a holder, this dime would be easy to sell due to eye appeal and strike.

    thanks much.....image

    I say YES!

  • I have no idea as I don't send in seated dimes that look like that every day.

I do like the coin and would buy a coin like that raw if we could agree on a price. I probably would send it in if I did buy a coin like that. Please do update us as to what it grades.

That's an attractive dime, and the toning looks natural to me. I would guess that it would slab- good luck!

I like it. I think it would slab. Though I think you should increase the sale price by at least $30 if it slabs at the grade you represented...

Absolutely would raise the price if this dime slabs, I believe it is a full 63 coin but discounted the pricing on my list due to the uncertainty on the toning.
