1803 Draped Bust Half
Variety: Small 3......O-104.....R-3
Grade: EF-40/45
Certification: Raw
Condition: Nice original smooth surfaces and definitely choice, attractively toned with blue and gold around the devices.
No scratches or mentionable marks other than a small rim bump at 2:00 on the reverse, which
is exagerated in the photo. At 5-6:00 on rev. is a shadow from my camera.
Comments: Purchased raw from Sheridan Downey..coin would slab with no problem, if you are so inclined.
Price: SOLD!!!
1806/5 Draped Bust Half
Variety: 6 over 5.....O-101....R-3
Grade: AU-53
Certification: PCGS
Condition: Smooth hard surfaces, cleaned at some point but has a nice gold tint. Small strike through in the right obverse field.
No mentionable marks of any kind. Well struck other than the bust and part of the clouds on the reverse
(which is common for the variety).
Comments: Conservatively graded, IMHO, considering how well struck the hair and breast feathers are. Maybe undergraded due to the weakness on the bust? Possibly a Condition Census piece?
6/5's bring $5,000++ in AU-58 and the ones I've seen don't have anymore detail than this coin.
Price: On E-bay (includes shipping and insurance)
1797 Draped Bust Small Eagle Half Dime
Variety: 16 Stars...LM-2...V-4
Rarity: R-4
Grade: VF-20
Certification: NGC
Condition: A very nice problem free Half Dime, nice surfaces with no major nicks or scratches. Typically struck for the variety. Nice eye appeal, if not original, it's about as close as you will come. Attractive blues, greens and reddish gold toning. Neat clash marks and reverse die cracks.
Comments: It's tough to find an Early Half Dime of this quality in this grade. Nice luster for a VF and accurately graded, if not a tad undergraded. The majority of 1797 Half Dimes are the 15 Star Variety, the 16 Star (this example) being the second rarest with the 13 Star being very rare. (especially nice and problem free)
