US Mint 2005 Unc Mint Sets - sold out ??

I just went to the US Mint Website, and it appears as though,
they are still selling the 2005 Unc Mint sets again.
Backordered until 12-1-05.
I ordered 10 before they change their mind again....

This wont sit well with some of the bidders on EBAY bidding $32- $35 a set.image

EDITED: I just checked EBAY the bids have dropped like in half on these that sold yesterday. Some sellers better change thers desriptions some say "Sold out at the Mint".

  • Click on the uncirculated set link, it says SOLD OUT. Then again it is the Mint.
  • Hmm. Weird. Now it says "not available". This morning the website allowed you to order it. I guess there went a very narrow window of opportunity.
  • I just went to check and it was available for 12/01 shipping.
Glad I ordered another 5 sets on the 18th.

  • I just checked and it says they are available
  • From the annual coin sets page you can still order it.
If you click on the direct product link it says "not available".

Then they wonder why they get a bad rap from collectors. They bring it on themselves by not having their pages in sync.

  • Just checked the US Mint site again.
I was able to order some sets earlier,
now it seems they are sold out again??
I checked my order history, and it shows
the sets are backordered for delivery on 12-1.
    Go figure...

  • I ordered some a few days back...then it said "Item not available". I figured if I get them, great if not..so what. when I noticed that they were no longer sold out, i cancelled my order.....screw these people.
  • the site has big bad gremlins in it.

As of today.... the main page under Annual Coin Sales still shows the mint sets.... but when you click on the mint set section on this page, it tells you it is no longer available. So looks like it really is no longer available. I also was able to order 10 sets last night.... before they made this change.

But who knows.... may or may not get them.

I noticed that after all my buys/returns/rebuys, I have 10 sets that are nice. I sent back about 15 crappy sets all total.
That's more than I want, so I hope they go up and up in price....I think I will sell 6 sets total, so if they could repeat what last year's did, that would be just grand image

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

  • I finally got my set 2 weeks ago after a several month wait.

What has caused the big ruckus with Unc mint sets??? Just people wanting the state quarters???

    Hoarding caused the sell out.

    Hoarding caused the sell out.

That's part of it. Still, it's more relevant to try to understand WHY people would want to hoard this particular set.
