Rare Find First-Strike 2004 PCGS Silver Eagles

I came in the backdoor and stumbled on an extraordinarily rare phenomenon........ As far as I know, these are the only PCGS-graded first-strike 2004 silver eagles in the whole wide world........ I'll be picking up these rare beauties in the next week or two, so I do not have photos yet........ But you all know what they look like........... Wouldn't it be great if a handfull of them happen to be MS70s......... You can go to my website to pre order. I expect to have them soon enough to get them to you in time for your holiday gift-giving.......My website:...www.duliakasenterprisesllc.com................ Thanks for looking!............ Let me know what you think, and it's okay to be brutally honest... www.duliakasenterprisesllc.com

Is $250 for a 2004 SAE (slabbed PCGS 69) really a good deal?

  • Your question is a good one. I based my prices on what has been selling at Silver State Coin & Bullion. You can see their prices for the 2002 and 2003 at their site:

    their site: http://www.silverstatecoin.com/secretspecialsfirststrike.html

They claim that there are 284 of the 2002, and 579 of the 2003. At this point, I do not know how many of the 2004 will be graded MS69s. There will definitely be less than 500.

You can also see at the following ebay auction, that a 2001 did not sell, it was bid up as high as $639.69
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8329896838&ru=http://search.ebay.com:80//search/search.dll?from=R40&satitle=8329896838&fvi=1ebay auction

Since we do not know yet how many of the 2004s will be available, I thought my prices were good starting points.
Based on your analyses, at what price would you place them?

First Strike is a joke. There are plenty of them around. To be a 'PCGS First Strike' the coin only needs to be sent in by a certain date or have proof that it was struck before a certain date. The only difference between your PCGS First Strike ASE and my ASE, is that mine doesnt have that ugly label.

That said, you may find a buyer, but I dont know.

Welcome to the forums by the way!
  • Thank you, P8nt, for your welcoming comment and for your input. As I understand it, the PCGS first-strike option was initiated just this year, so what you are saying is true from here on out. It's only when one has an unopened box from previous years that also happens to have been minted by the end january of that year that one will be able to get the ugly lables and alot of extra dollars. That's just the way it is....image
