seeking opinions on this no motto half eagle 1853P. NGC AU58
I like the look of it. Mintage is 305,770.
PCGS price guide says it runs 400 in AU. A whopping 1400 in MS60, and up from there.
Now the grade I do not agree with. I think it is a bit optimistic, but as usual, look for the luster.
I really like the long die crack on the obverse!

I know I would drop 350 without a thought on that coin. Retail for this coin in this sorta auction
is 625. I guess I would stretch a bit to 400 for that die crack on my "future" 1953P.
But 500? 600? I highly doubt I will do that.
What would you pay? What do you think of the coin?
edited to add: what is going on with the date?

I do not make purchase decisions on the basis of photos for coins over $100.
wait for better? after all, that is what i want to see!
The real question will be what their "reserve" figure is. I bid on 4 coins on the last auction and all four coins did not achieve the reserve.
Good Luck!!

1852P is a slightly easier "get" with a mintage of 573,901.
I also own one, PCGS AU55. I paid 313 which included s/h/i.
You got offered wholesale prices. Any with die cracks though
edited to add: well, what seems to me, essentially wholesale, "ebay type prices".
i would like a bolder mint mark than that. I would wait for better.
100 or 200 dollars more might score substantially more coin?
i totally agree with your statement, but if that includes ebay,
one bad deal ruins your whole percentage money wise.
i prefer good customer service and good pictures. plus
the site seems to cater to me. slightly tougher coins
in conditions i like.
just to get a few more thoughts before it sinks into obscurity

Trends in F12 is $600, not much more. Though for a coin like this, I'm not sure you could actually find one in F12 very easily. Heritage sold a F12 for $460 last December. I think I would rather have that one
