first submission results

i am a very novice collector. just beginning a psa 1958 master set. (probably the wrong set to start with ?)

this is my first submission ever to any grading company. i got these cards from a house foreclosure i did last year. these cards along with hundreds of others were left in a garbage bag at the curb waiting for the garbage pick up to come. i started with the 58's because i like this set the most. i'm a little disappointed in some of the card grades received (not the yellow 8's). i spent thousands of dollars buying graded 58's, everything from psa 6's to a 10, just to compare to my cards. i could swear my cards were just as nice if not nicer than the 7's i bought (dosen't everybody think so). the richardson looked like at least an 8 to me. my borders are perfectly white, not the creamier yellow that 7's and 8's appear to be. i still have a bunch of the 58 star cards to submit. my hopes won't be so high next time. oh well, live and learn.

i have a new found respect and awe for the top sets of this year. i can't even begin to imagine the time, effort and money in those sets ahead of me on the registry.

You did pretty well considering it was your first submission and a vintage one at that. You had some 8s and a good number of 7s. My first sub was on 1982 Donruss golf cards and although I had a fair amount of 9s, I also had lots of qualifiers. It took a couple of tries before I got my first PSA 10 and loads of 9s. I've found each new issue I try takes a little getting used to what PSA is looking at. I've been submitting vintage tobacco golf cards mostly for the past three years and I feel I have a decent grasp on what they are looking for now. Keep it up and good luck with subsequent submissions.

Nothing to be ashamed of - plenty of 7's & a few 8's. And the price was right (amazing find). Way to go Matrix!

Nice for a first, second or even third submission on vintage material. You have some of the tough yellow variety cards.

unless your doing this graded set to resell as a full psa 8 set...which i dont recommend cause ya always seem just break even in these things....know that your cards are authenticated non-trimmed....protected in the holder.....and that you disagree with the grade ...otherwise enjoy...i have some psa 5's in my 57 set along with psa 8's...its whether or not your satisfied with THAT card in your set ....i know i have a sad sam jones in a psa 5 which i think is a 7...and ive looked for any creases/wrinkles and came up with NOTHING.....im keeping that card in my mostly 6-7 set.

Wow! Those are really great first time results on a vintage set. We all can appreciate high grade efforts when we submit. It's a bear to screen cards yourself and be patient enough to only submit the best of the best.
