Nice trade for the Red Sox

Mike Lowell and Josh Beckett for Hanley Ramirez and Anibal Sanchez.

Ramirez is a supposed stud, but Beckett is dominant and Lowell could rip the Green Monster. Looks like Florida is going to start dealing the farm again ... but with two rings in less than 10 seasons they are doing something right.

Hopefully the Phils can resign Wagner, add Juan Pierre, trade Thome and Abreu (wishful thinking) and move the outfield back 20 feet.

    For once since the 70's Boston has some good prospects. I hate the idea of trading them, but this

    I can't believe the Sox signed such an obvious steroid user, assuming that's why Lowell's offensive production just mysterious dropped off the map last season, which is as good a rumor to spread as any... Unfortunately his arrival pretty much seals Billy Mueller's fate in Boston, not that there was much hope of him remaining to begin with.

    Beckett single handedly won the WS against NY and was amazing. Other than that, I think he's been pretty good stats-wise, but haven't seen much to have any real opinion. By all accounts though, he's young and he's got very well regarded and respected stuff. Should be great here if he stay healthy.

    Another reason steroids brings a black cloud ... guys who have a subpar year get questioned as to why. Not to say he did or didn't use steroids, just seems to be the growing trend.

    I used to say the same thing about Palmeiro....and I've studied steroids a long time. Well, he made me and a bunch of fans look like a fool.

    P.S. Not commenting on Lowell.

    Just one comment on the trade: If Manny is still around in BOS next year, should be an interesting clubhouse with him and Beckett....and Francona.
