    I don't know, but maybe they were going for the highest grade. Since neither PSA nor SGC have a "3.5" grade, maybe they went with GAI for that reason.

    I"m sure they are shopping grades with any item like this. Don't really think it will matter though who graded it, as long as it is PSA/SGC/GAI.
    I believe it's already higher than any SGC card has ever sold for, and possibly 3rd or 4th on the all time list.

    GAI may have bid to grade the card - it is great exposure.
