More Heritage woes

How often does this happen at Heritage?

I place a max bid on a lot way in advance of the auction. At time I placed the bid it says congrats, you are high bidder, blah blah blah. Every day I get my bid status email showing the current bid is at my max. The auction closes and it sells at my max bid.

BUT it doesn't show me as the winner so I email Heritage and they claim that another person had placed the same max bid three days before I did. Huh???????

Makes you wonder.

That does not make any sense....two people cannot have the same max bid. Appears that Heritage does not have their facts straight. I would go the next step and call these folks. They are responsive on the phone. Ask for one of the auction account reps and explain your case.

Asked Heritage to withdraw a bid . They said they would take care of it . Two days later , I am the winning bidder. image

  • Could a mail bidder have beat you to the punch? Or perhaps the clerk just entered the winning bidder number into the computer incorrectly, or the winning bid. See if they will roll back the tape, that is if they record their sales.

I cannot understand how you could be notified you were the current high bidder, and then later the coin sells to someone else at your max. Simply does not compute.

Call Heritage until you get someone that gives you an explanation you can understand. If you have your bidders emails you should have a strong case.

Please report back here so we all can be informed.

  • Has happened to me numerous times and was told that I lost to mail bidders. Heritage stated that these bids don't get processed timely but were received prior to my internet bid.

one time, maybe -- 10-15 times not!! There is another story here but never got it.

I think you are saying that Heritage is counting mail bids to actually be placed when they are received at Heritage, even though they may not be processed until a later date. Heritage should make every effort to process mail bids quickly, but until they are actually processed, they should not be counted as placed bids.

For an internet bidder to be told they have the high bid and their max is accepted, only to later find out their max was NOT credited to them, is a sad situation.image

  • Other than Ebay. I still am not sure how all of the auctions work. I just place my bids, and forget about them. If I win, I win. Only way to keep ones sanity.
