total members

I just noticed at the top of the screen when signing in there are now 18,966 members. Anyone want to guess when we hit 19,000?
I wonder what the total population of this forum will be in one, two, etc. years?

Well, of that ~19,000, there are probably a TON of people who no longer come here (tired of the BS from people, got out of coins, no longer with us, banned, etc) and there are likely hundreds, if not a thousand or more, of the "alt-IDs" that some people like to create. And, of that ~19,000, there is at least that one stamp person that is counted image

So, while that number is cool, i would wonder how many active members there are......

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

  • There won't be any members. PCGS will pull the plug on the boards when we revolt against them after they change the grading system !

My daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 2 (2003). My son was diagnosed with Type 1 when he was 17 on December 31, 2009. We were stunned that another child of ours had been diagnosed. Please, if you don't have a favorite charity, consider giving to the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation)

Since the active number at any one time during the week ranges from 150-200, I'd say there are no more than 500 truly active members. 1000 at the outside. The other 18000? Well if they showed up all at once, it would be 18 times as hard to keep up with all the posts.image

Turn it into a poll where there's only one choice, and everybody only gets to vote once. should give you a decent idea as to how many people participate regularly.

A more interesting question is "how many lurkers are there?". While 500 or 1000
may be a pretty good estimate of the number of active posters there are hundreds
of long time members with two or three posts who are obviously keeping up at least
some of the time. There are probably thousands more who've never signed up and
read from time to time. Some are just people who stumble on the site from an internet
search or are collectors who check in on rare occasion.

Some of the sites display the number of unregistered readers, lurkers, guests, etc and
they can far outnumber the regular users at any given time. One would think the lar-
gest site might get the vast majority of lurkers.
