Hey, don't get me wrong, I am a fan of "GIBBY", but does this "ALL-TIME" Detroit Tigers lineup sound right in the outfield?
Ty Cobb
Al Kaline
Kirk Gibson
Go look at Harry Heilmann's numbers. They are absolutely incredible, in fact, downright outstanding!
Every time I see this, I get ill. This "ALL-TIME" team voting needs to be re-vamped somehow!
Please send all complaints now to yours truly!

PS-Whilst I am at it, (HERE WE GO AGAIN!) I am a huge fan of Willie Horton,
but why does Willie Horton have a statue in centerfield at Comerica Park,
but Stormin' Norman Cash does not? After all, he is #2 All-time in Tiger Home
Runs!
(Again, all complaints to yours truly!)
I am going to bed now...nighty night!

Picked by "FANS" of the game in the Detroit Metro area I believe.
There were a couple years that Heilmann hit over .400 !

Not that I think the fan's actually realized this, but Crawford, Heilmann, and Kaline were all right fielders. Best right fielder - Kaline or Crawford, with either choice being reasonable.
Best center fielder - Cobb, and it doesn't matter who else played center.
Best left fielder - well, Al Simmons played for Detroit 1 year, Goose Goslin for 3 1/2 years, Manush for 4 1/2 years. So the best LEFT fielder that actually played most of his career for Detroit? Well, it's probably Bobby Veach, but the best one that anybody has heard of is Kirk Gibson.
So if they were voting by specific outfield position, the fans actually did pretty well.
Incidentally, is there anyone with a higher ratio of ability to fame than Bobby Veach? I guess when you're the third best outfielder on your own team it's hard to get noticed, but there's plenty worse players in the HOF than Veach.

I remembered Goose Goslin more for his play with the Washington Senators... and not the 3 1/2 yrs with Detroit
Kaline deserves to be there with no disrespect to Crawford.
As for Cobb... end of discussion.
Horton was good, but Heillman will always be overlooked... it is mostlikely an issue of the memory... (or lack thereof...)
Sorry, I am not good at explaining the whys...
