Forum Venture

Let's say all us forum members put our minds together. We all or the majority agree to bid on one certain coin a week or month. Either on Ebay, Heritage, Teletrade, Bowers, ANR, Superior or even a certain dealer. I know some might say it is just best to do it alone. You are more than free to do so. This would just be an oppurtuntiy to see how all the best minds in the coin industry do together as one. Also, it would be a minimal risk if say one member throws in $5 or so than $200. We can set a limit to the amount. Heck, if it is about trust I'll even put in the money myself. Who ever is in just say "Im' in" you can send me the $5 at your convenience or we can send the money to an agreed member. Then what we do is put the coin up for auction on Ebay and see how it does. We can then all track the coin and see how it is preforming and at the same time discuss it and learn. It would be a great learning experience for all of us and at the same time see some of the most smartest minds at work. It is just a suggestion which I think would be exciting to do. We can then add the money to a fund and have a treasurer etc. and keep building that fund for whatever reason. Any other ideas or comments would be more than welcome. If, this is not possible or allowed then forgive me for bringing it up just thought it would be a great venture. At the same time if it is successfull, people will realize how fascinating the coin hobby is and if one doe's their homework great things can be accomplished.
Also, the $5 you deposit can be withdrawn at any time you wish. Say, 20 forum members put in $5 each, the coin the majority agrees on sells for $150. Any member can withdraw his $7.50 or so because of the profit. If it goes for $75 then he would withdraw his $3.50 or so. These are all just ideas.

I'm in, but good luck getting anyone to agree as to what coin to buy.

I'm going to think about it, and decide in the morning.
Apropos of the coin posse/aka caca: "The longer he spoke of his honor, the tighter I held to my purse."
This would be a great opportunity for collectors who don't have a big budget. They have done pretty good with their choices before but couldn't buy it for whatever reason. It would be a good way to hear different presentations and learn from them as well. Here they can present it and we can agree with the majority's choice or with the best presentation.
These are all just ideas anyone can disagree or give their own ideas or opinions.
So far, we have two members involved jdcheers and Touchdown.
Sounds like fun, but not so easy to find a coin on TT, to sell at a profit on Ebay. To avoid conflicts, perhaps one member per week could choose a coin to buy for the group. It would be a mess, for 20 or so people, to try to agree on anything. Text
I will give a good example. On Oct. 5,2005 a 10C PCGS MS 65FB Dime sold for $360 on TT. I then I asked a forum member after the auction his opinion on the value of the coin. Since, he has a set with FB Dimes. His response was I would pay atleast $1000 for the coin in a PCGS Holder. The reason for that is because it is a pop 1 /0 with FB's. There are only 5 coins total with FB's and the other three are in MS 64 and one in 63. There is a total of 171 coins graded for this date. Threfore, any coin with FB's would be concidered a tough coin. If, I would of asked or gotten someone's input the coin might have been won and sold to the member for his set. He would of been happy with the purchase and it would of been a good profit for the buyer.
