Dealers and big show attendees....On the bourse floor have you noticed...

....more collectors and/or other dealers searching for VAMs lately? I am wondering since PCGS started attributing Morgans and Peace if it has created more activity on the floor.

Dealer question: How many dealers take the time to go through their inventory and search out VAMs? I am sure they spot the obvious ones but what about the not so obvious?

Collectors: Have you noticed more dealers displaying VAMs , attributed and/or unattributed ?

I plan on attending the upcoming FUN show and just hope there will still be something left to cherrypick... you know what I mean image

  • I haven't really noticed an increase in people looking for VAMs. It's usually the same people show after show cherrypicking VAMs. I don't usually check for VAMs in our inventory unless I'm just plain bored.

VAM collectors have always been out in force, especially on the west coast. They just aren't as "quiet" as they have been in the past.

I am currently purchasing Peace Dollars and have recently purchased the "Top 50 Peace Dollar Varieties".

With all due respect, some of those varieties I can hardly see WITH a magnifier and forget about seeing them with my eyes alone. I will continue to purchase Peace Dollars but I won't be doing any VAM cherry-picking. The obvious ones are obvious and the others just aren't worth the strain on my eyes. image

One dealer I know who attends all the local shows around here recently started to offer a selection of VAMS, both slabbed and raw with the VAM number written on the holder, for only a small premium over the non-VAM versions of the same dates and mms. The dealer told me that they weren't selling any better than the non-VAMS.

I have noticed at the small shows in the MD, VA area more collectors searching for VAMs.
