1951 Bowman Duke Snider PSA 10
This is apart of the Branca collection that Mastro is offering. Any idea why he is selling his collection or guesses on how much he is making?

1954 Topps box
Not bad either....
<< <i>Those 2 unopened 1954 boxes are beyond incredible. The PSA 10 Banks rookie that was pulled from a pack of the 3rd box is also amazing. I really wish I had hit that Mega Millions drawing from last week... the quality of the items in this auction is phenominal. >>
Years ago Mr Mint had this major unopened find from Paris, Tenn. - I wonder if these may be from that purchase and someone is finally wanting to cash in.

I think this is a fresh find. Mastro auctioned a ton of unopened material last year from Canada, I wonder if this is from the same source.
Before this find, it was slim pickings....before GAI, you might see a few packs here and there (like 1 ever 5 years!). The Mr Mint packs have dried up completely. Occasionally you'll see low grade '55 Topps packs, or some high grade '54 Bowmans from that find....but not much else.
??? That's nuts.
<< <i>No, they just surfaced... they tell the story in the catalog... I believe the Paris find was the high number 1952's. >>

Here's from Mr. Mint's web - the guy is so full of himself!
2. Purchaser of the Paris, TN Find which amounted to over 500 unopened wax boxes of 1954 and 1955 Topps and Bowman baseball cards. In addition, there were over 250 1954 and 1955 Bowman football unopened wax boxes, not to mention, over 100 Mint-condition 1955 Bowman baseball sets. Current market value? Over $7 million!
I didn't read the auction description. I just don't think at this point there's much "new" stuff but rather investor stuff from the early 90s that is now being "cashed" - just an idea.

<< <i>That Snider is nice, no doubt...but is the L/R centering worthy of a 10? >>
I thought the same thing. I think the T/B looks a little off as well but I'm sure it falls into the specs for a 10??
And I thought my 64 Topps Giant set completely autographed was something! This makes mine look like a A.J. Burnett insert card!!
Check out the Agganis! Where in the world did that come from!?!?!? A rookie Clemente signed!! In awe just to look at the picture! Really
Just looking at the Wilson Franks set almost made me weep!!
Be good my brothers.
So someone in 1955 whenever the cards were issued (would be interesting to know exactly when, if anyone has info), or more accurately whenever which ever series contained the Agganis card was issued, got the card and got him to sign it sometime before June of that year when he passed away.
Seems like such a tiny window, if a window did indeed even exist. It's also amazing considering I imagine kids collected cards mostly in the 50s, and I don't think kids collected autographs on cards very much. Maybe I'm just overly skeptical, but that just seems like it can't be legit. Kind of like this legit George Washington auto I have... on a $1 bill.
Or if it is legit, it has to be one of, if not the most, rare autographed card in the entire hobby.
<< <i>how the freakin' hell do you refocus away from a wagner? kinda like saying...yeah i was the president for 1 term but then realized i would much rather be the Ambassador to the confederated states of micronesia. my bet is he is getting divorced. >>
Mastronet has been auctioning items from John Branca's collection for the past several auctions. Branca is refocusing his collection away from complete sets.
The T206 Wagner is NOT from the Branca collection. It is from the Frank Nagy collection. Nagy is an old-time collector who died several years ago, and his heirs have consigned his collection to Mastro.
Steve
Thoughts on what it will take to bring those 24 beauties home?
I am leaning towards 15K..(without the vig)
$625 a pack or so?
I also see a few registry sets are up for sale in various years..I wonder how they will do.

His card was #152 which is the second series....that series usually showed up in April. Agganis was first hospitalized on May 16 and died June 28. He was apparently quite ill from pulmonary disease during this period. It therefore is possible that he could have autographed the card...especially if he was at the hospital and a young patient had just gotten the card. That being said, I agree that the chances of the card surviving fifty years and showing up in this set are pretty slim .
Always looking for 1957 Topps BB in PSA 9!

That seems like an amazing story. A 6 or 8 week window of opportunity? And it happens to end up graded an in a complete set?

That is EXACTLY what I was thinking. Bet that is what the real story is.
