1969 Topps Team Posters

Does anybody know much about these. I have a very nice Cardinals poster? Is there any book on them? How rare are they.

There were 24 in the set. The 2005 SCD Standard Catalog listed the set for $ 1400 in top condition and the Cardinals for $ 75.

One of my favorite Topps experiments. Gorgeous posters.

I put together a set and they were not nearly as tough for me as the 73 Pin Ups, 73 Comics or 68 Action Stickers ; but easier than the 67,68 or 70 Pin Up/s Posters

Never heard of 73 pin ups or 73 comics. Got any pictures? Are there any Cardinals?

I have heard of the Action Stickers? Are there any Cardinals in that?

The 73 comics and pinups are very tough, the comics being the tougher of the two. Both sets have Joe Torre. I'm going to try to attach a photo of my Reggie pinup, don't have a comic photo handy.

Sorry, I can't get the photo reduced enough to fit, I'm sure Bob will post one soon.

I have a set of the Comics and Pin Ups, but no technological savy about posting them . I know Bob ( Bobsbbcards) has them as well and I am sure he would be willing to post some examples. In fact i think he has done so previously

Torre was the only Cardinal in the sets. I don't have a scan of the Pin-Up yet. Interesting thing about the player photo in the upper left of the Comic--same as '73 Candy Lid.

I was just reading about the Comics and the Pin ups. They are test issues. I know Topps had some really rare stuff in the 60's and early 70's. Does anybody know which ones were test issues and which were rare, but mainstream. What about the 69 Team Posters, 68 Action Stickers, 69 Super, 64 Plaks, 64 Tatoos, 60 Tatoos, 51 Topps Teams, etc?

Edited to say that I am interested in only Topps oddball issues. More specifically, Cardinals.

I have complete team sets of 1956 Topps Double Headers, 1961 Topps Ruboffs or Tattoos, 1961 Topps Stamps, 1962 Topps Stamps, 1963 Topps Peeloffs, 1964 Topps Giants, 1964 Topps Standups, 1964 Topps Coins, 1965 Topps Embossed, 1965 Topps Transfers, 1966 Topps Ruboffs, 1967 Topps Posters, 1968 Topps Game, 1968 Topps Posters, 1969 Topps Deckle Edge, 1969 Topps Decals, 1969 Topps Stamps, 1969 Topps Team Poster, 1970 Topps Booklets, 1970 Topps Super, 1970 Topps Posters, 1971 Topps Super, 1971 Topps Coins.

I have two of the four 1962 Topps Bucks (Minoso and Jackson), none of the 1971 Topps Greatest Moments.

Besides the sets listed at the top, can anybody think of what else I might be missing that aren't test issues? I really don't want to spend thousands to buy, say, for instance, a 1968 Topps 3D of Curt Flood. That card what cost a bunch.

Do a search in the PSA Set Registry and Sports Cards & Memorabilia forums for "Topps Test issues." There are some great threads.

1948 Magic Photos - need to add to my list. Are there any Cardinals? Seems like I have looked before.

1951 Red and Blue Backs - have both in my collection. I forgot to list.

1951 Current and Connie Mack All Stars - I don't think there are any Cardinals. I did a search on that one time and got a scare. I thought that in the Current All Stars that Eddie Stanky played for the Cardinals. That card books for $12,500. Luckily he played for NY in 1951.

1955-56 Hocus Focus - I have them on my search list.

1964 Rookie All Star Banquest - never heard of them.

    1965 Push Pull - ditto

1965 Embossed - got the team set.

1967 Punch Outs - never heard of them.

    1967 Who Am I - ditto.

1969 Four In One - I have them on my search list.

1970 and 1973 Candy Lids - are they TOPPS?

    1972 Cloth Stickers - got the 77, didn't know about 72.

    1973 53 Reprints, 1974 Emblems, 1974 Deckel, 1974 Puzzles - never heard of.

1974 Team Checklists - is that the red bordered card with all the facsimile autographs?

1975 Minis - got the team set.

Thanks for all the help, guys.

Wow! A 14 year old thread that I started. I just read the whole thing. That was back when I didn't know squat about Topps test issues. I have learned a lot since then, thanks to Al, Bob, Dave, and many others.

I have made tremendous strides on my collection since then. I was able to even get the 1968 Topps 3D Curt Flood that I never thought I would get.....and it didn't cost me thousands. I think I got it for around $500. My want list now only consists of the Topps test issues below. I have everything else.

1955 Topps Stamps - Joe Cunningham, Alex Grammas, Harvey Haddix

1961 Topps Dice Game - Stan Musial, Bill White

1966 Topps Punchouts - Curt Flood

1967 Topps Stand Ups - Orlando Cepeda, Tim McCarver

1970 Topps Cloth - Rich Nye, Vic Davalillo

frankhardy- congrats on your collection. After I bought a 69 Pirates poster I did a search to see
if there were any threads about them and happened upon this one. I had never seen them before
and did notice there's quite a few for sale on ebay. Really the only one I want is the Pirates poster
because I'm a big fan of Stargell and Clemente.

Do you have the 64 topps Giant card set? They are beautiful looking cards and might be something
I collect in the future, after completing a few current goals I have.

Yes, I do have the 1964 Topps Giants TEAM set, but not the entire set. It is a nice looking set.

    Al,

Yep, that's the way I planned it. I was just saving the best for last! I will be looking forward to REA. I had better save my pocket change!

Also, there is nothing like having to add a super rare card to your want list! After posting that post earlier, I discovered the existence of a 1970 Topps Cloth Vic Davalillo. Ugh!

    Al,

Glancing at Dave's Topps blog.....is the Standups set from 1967 or 1968?

I'm leaving the house and I don't have time to dig tonight. I will dig a little later if you don't have a quick answer.

SCD lists it as 67. If Dave thinks it should be 68 from his research far from me to doubt him. On limited or non issued test sets I think sometimes the date of production and date of any distribution may vary.
