Hey PSA, Want to save 1000's of $$$$ a YEAR!

Go out and buy a simple barcode scanner set-up.

This way, when we send in our submissions they wont fall into the black hole known as "cards received".

A good system cost about $2000, and here is what you win PSA:

1: Less calls to Customer Service
2: Less redundant hits to the submissions web page
3: Less frustration from collectors as they receive automatic emails at each stage of grading
--Scanning is simple, just drag the wand across the barcode that took less than a second to apply to the order upon receiving
4: Better tracking (I know you guys are the experts and all but for some reason this works well for small companies like UPS, FEDEX, AMAZON etc)

How 1980's is the current sytem. Send in your cards, they receive them, and you have no idea where your cards are in their system!

At the next big meeting, right after upper management is done congratulating themselves on last years big decision (book instead of bookbag),
try floating an idea that, GASP, actually improves the grading process!

Go ahead, you can do it.

Loves me some shiny!

I doubt they really plan to update the card grading service. Most of their profit comes from coin grading and CU just bought a gem grading service for future growth.

Sportscards are the red-headed stepchild of the business.

This would cost PSA $$$. They sell advertising on each page, and cost is dictated from the # of hits per day, month etc. The more hits, the higher the rate. They have these auction houses paying big bucks for headers on the pages, ironically there are probably very few unique hits as most submitters check multiple times a day. Imagine paying a 1000 hit rate to find out there were only 150 different people who looked at the page 6-7 times each in a given period. The longer the submission sits in the pile, the more hits from the same submitter. I must see the stupid ads 100+ times a month waiting for the grades, as they have no rhyme or reason to the submission that they grade.

Sometimes I feel like sending the submission in a nice shiney gift box thinking that they may think that Mommy is sending them a present and they'll open it first. This could backfire and result in low grades as the grader would be disappointed that it wasn't really a gift.
