This auction cracks me up.....misleading?

Do you think the coin he's selling looks as good as the one in the photo?

After all, you can read everything.

  • What a lowlife scam artist scum.
  • I wonder whose picture he stole? Now THAT is a nice coin.

Judging from the bids so far, I'd say some people didn't read the whole thing.

While I agree that the seller should not have used someone else's picture, it is clearly written in the auction that the coin pictured is not the one the winning bidder will get.

Yes, that's true, but the picture he used is of a MS coin. Judging from his description (that you can read everything on it), I doubt very seriously that the coin he's selling is a MS coin. I wonder if you can read the Liberty on the headband?

Do you think he used the word "Good" in his auction by accident?

How often do we not read everything in the listings on Ebay ? The other day I thought I had located a really nice 1913 Barber Half Dollar in XF40 graded by PCGS, in the Half Dollar Section / PCGS.. I threw in a substantial bid and became the "highest bidder". A few minutes later, I decided to look it over again, and sure enough, it wasn't a Half Dollar at all, but a Quarter. I retracted my bid and advised the seller to put a disclaimer in his ad, which he did... however the disclaimer is buried amoungst all the other jargon the ad contained.

well, i stray over to the Open Forum about as much as i see Cherwood over here, so i assumed it might be slow. my bad since the pols have been getting all worked up into a frothy-frenzy lately. with Bush out of town and his mouthpiece Cheney here to defend him, many of the democrats have gotten bold and their counterparts from the Republican party seem to not have much to say in the way of defending the lame-duck. i'm amazed at the demeanor that Bush displays in his little photo-ops, he never ceases to have that sheepish grin and off-the-cuff chuckle when he responds, much different than his self-assured replies of a few years ago. simply amazing to me how things can change so quickly....................................but, we should be talking about coins, right????

  • I asked him if you could read the any of the Liberty in the head band and he answered "no, all worn off".

And I just happened to notice this auction because I was looking for a nice CN Indian Head for my type set.

    Cherwood.

Did you ask the seller about his Timing Belt? It may have caused the wear on the headdress.

I think that while he does disclose that the coin pictured is not the same as the one he has, it does mislead the buyers.

    Yes, it is very misleading.

I can see the potential for a negative brewing...
