Worst PSA 10 ever seen?

Has anyone ever seen a PSA 10 that was in bad shape? For example, a card with sharp corners but a very noticeable crease on the surface. What would you think if you bought a group of PSA 10's and had this happen? Please advise. (This is not purely a hypothetical, as you may have guessed...)
I am buying and trading for RC's of Wilt Chamberlain, George Mikan, Bill Russell, Oscar Robertson, Jerry West, and Bob Cousy!
Don't waste your time and fees listing on ebay before getting in touch me by PM or at gregmo32@aol.com !

From what I gather, PSA will buy the card back from you for the price you paid.
  • Yes, I have had quite a few PSA 10's that were "bad". The most outrageous one was a- I suspect- sheet-cut card I purchased from Joe Tuttle. It had a gouge in the left edge that was the size of a chicklet and the card was littered with relatively deep creases (spider wrinkles on steroids) on the reverse that when tilted showed themselves on the front. In addition, it also has a large yellow blemish the size of a penny right on the key player's face that the grader must've missed. The corners were positively lethal--as you'd expect from a sheet-cut and the centering was exemplary. The stock, however, had that lovely "reverse vending" curl and the obvious flashing along one edge...what a mess!

PSA will absolutely NOT, I repeat NOT just automatically pay you what you paid for it. They will review it and offer to purchase the card back at SMR or a portion thereof. If it is not listed in SMR in "10" you could have a real issue if you paid through the nose.
In a case like this I would ask the seller if they submitted the card themselves. If so, ask if they could take the card back and present it to PSA.

Is it a bigger ticket card? If not, you may have some luck with PSA--if it's HOF'er or RC of some prestige that you paid multiples over SMR for--you get a wonderful bath for the holidays. Best luck on it! Keep us posted.
  • i have a 1974 topps bob gibson psa 10 that is a joke. off center w/a print dot. how's it was graded a 10 is beyond me. i also the same card 50/50 centered in a psa 9 and the 9 blows it away. put them side by side cover up the labels and the 9 wins hands down. i thought about sending them to psa to see if they'll switch them.

  • I've probably seen better centered cards than this one:

    1967 Chico Cardenas PSA 10

So I decided to sell the card rather than try to get every other card in the set in the same condition :0

1967and 1973 Topps baseball wantlists (any condition) welcome. Once had the #14 ATF 1967 set. Yet another collector like skylaneflyer, gimel1 who made it to the completion of 1967 only to need the money more than the company of 609 close friends.
Looking for oddball Norm Cash and Cleon Jones stuff, and 1956 team cards
