Question about members

Has anybody ever run into lmayer or lhess2000 while bidding on Ebay? I keep getting sniped by the 2 of them. They pay 2 and 3 times SMR on some of the commons. I was wondering if they ever post on these boards?

  • If you are getting outbid by Mr. Mayer, than you really have no intentions of winning an auction.
Please be kind to me. Even though I'm now a former postal employee, I'm still capable of snapping at any time.

lmayer has been bidding very strongly on a few sets.

In answer to the original question, his sets are listed as BBCards4U.

On a whole I have rarely seen Larry Mayer as a SNIPE bidder.....He usually places his bids hours or even days before an auction is to end............

...being out bid is part of EBAY............lmayer or whoever........

To answer your question.......I have never seen lmayer post on these boards.

To further add, Larry is truly a great guy. I have bought cards off his website and he has also bought many cards from me. A real asset to the hobby. And I have never seen him snipe, ever.

Just wondering...what is "sniping"?? I read about that alot when people are talking about Ebay bidding. I know I get outbid a lot in the last minutes too....just figured someone was watching the auctions close and bidding at the last second. Thanks-Claude

The definition of "sniping" would be placing a bid in the last seconds of an aucion ending.........whether you do it yourself or use one of the various "pay services" on the internet which will make sure your last minute bid is placed. ( for a fee, of course)

  • Larry is a real class act; I have purchased from him and bid against him and all with class. I have not seen him snipe many, not that it is even an issue. Again, a class collector.

  • Larry is a class guy and I have both sold and bought cards from him.I have never seen him use a snipe-and his bidding is reasonable. If you are losing to him then may I suggest you re-think your bidding strategy as he very rarely over pays for a card.Again he is a CLASS ACT-DUKE

  • There used to be a saying that "if LMAYER was the high bidder on a card with an hour to go, you were in trouble". Larry is bidding strong on a lot of cards for his website and I agree is a great guy, who has bought from me and vice versa. Larry is no sniper.

  • What is Larry's website address?

I don't know about Larry being a strong bidder. His pattern is about 60% to 75% of PSA prcie guide value, as i have beaten him out of several auctions in the last month.

If I am interested in a card and Larry is the high bidder I automatically bid. Larry buys to sell on his website. He also knows his sets and his cards very well and will bit aggressively for low pop cards.
As another poster said if you are the seller and Larry wins, you are disappointed.
