Mr. Tomaska is THE major contributer to the PCGS value of 1000$ for a 1949-D FBL MS-65 Franklin .
In fact ; many Franklins are trading at fractions of what the PCGS prices quote . Why is this so ?

Either this coin is not up to the standards of a solid 65, or the market has changed on this piece and this listing price is more in line with what they are actually worth. Your going to see a lot of this on specific items in the near future, others you will not. If you have any worries about money you have invested, then youll hope you took the right train.

and the pcgs price guide is just that A GUIDE

and it would surprise many that this price GUIDE does not buy or sell coins nor does it make offers so basically the prices are almost useless unless for common widgit coins that are trading on a regular basis where there are many in the same grade available all of the time

For a 49-d that coin looks drab and boring.... I like d mints to have some minty tone, crust, some zip, some tobacco stain on the rim.

Franklins usually sell for far less than the Coin World trends and the PCGS price guide. It has been that way for years.
