A Monday Night Football game nightmare. Is McNabb on f'ing drugs making a throw like that? Possibly the worst, most unnecessary interception I have ever seen in an NFL game, and I have seen probably over a thousand NFL games. And why does Reid leave McNabb in on the next series after the interception when he obviously can't play. The Eagles still had a good chance to win the game even after the interception. Poor head coaching and a total choke by McNabb.

This team is taking years off of my life lol
I'm sorry to admit that I had a nice Eagles picture and comments all loaded and ready to post here with about 4 minutes to play in the game. I just had to click the mouse - glad I didn't because the game was embarrassing enough without having done that - LOL.
Hey - My hats off to the Cowboys. Winning teams find a way to win games like that and losing teams find a way to lose games like that. It's too early to quit on my Eagles and I won't until they are mathematically eliminated...but obviously it's not looking good right now.
I'll wait for the sig line picture - take your time with it. Take until Saturday if you need to.

total hex job. don't you know your actions influence the outcome of faraway sporting events?
seriously, though, i can't believe the eagles lost. i just found out - through this thread, no less. i didn't watch any of the game, but checked the score online from time to time. i figured it was over at 17-7 early in the fourth and didn't check again after that. i should've known to flip on the ill picture box. monday night is so fixed.
You're absolutely right. I gotta learn to wait until after the game.
pass it?????
Whomever called that play needs to be fired. Cowgirls backed into a win, Im surprised Roy didn't drop it!

Back in FL after seeing the Reid and McNabb blow the game on Monday night.
Left the stadium with 4 minutes to go and listened to the horrible news on the radio while walking to the subway. Much of the Linc had already done the same thing.
Reid and McNabb should both leave the team after this season. Why?
Neither of them has mentioned the fans in any truly meaningful manner after any of their botched losses. Both of these men have to realize that if not for the City of Philadelphia they would be nothing. The fans do not appreciate this perceived lack of support.
Reid had no business calling a passing play on 2nd and 7 with so little time left in the game. They run it successfully all night then Reid has the bright idea to pass on 2nd down again. Moron! Run it out and pin the offense in their own end. The D would have held them and the Eagles would have the ball again with a minute to go.
McNabb had no business throwing the ball. This only proves that he often does not have the capacity to make decisions in tough situations. For years he has lost it under stress. Watch his last game at Syracuse. He brought the team back and won the game on the last play but in the process he was puking on the field. He has trouble handling stress.
The management should can them both and start over.
Stalin - your Sucs have been lucky. Sims won't hold out for long so change your panties now while you have the chance. Gruden could have just as easily blown the two point call, and the replay showed he did. The officials just didn't have a good shot to overturn it.
Axtell - Yes, it's worth it to have let TO go. He is a punk. Telling him and the other NFL teams that he would not play again this year helped the Eagles move on. If he's so great then why don't you want him to play for Tampa Bay?
Reid may not have a clue when calling plays in the clutch or managing the clock (because of McNabb's inability to run a quick offense), but he at least had the guts to do what is best for the rest of the team in this situation.
They way reid and mcnabb handled the TO thing is unexcusable! who is the leader of this team? seems like nobody is.
I only pray you guys dont finish so bad that you get a shot at reggie bush..
Check my posts.
I complained that Reid should change the offense a while back.
They handled the TO thing the right way. He would not change for anyone. He is a punk and needed to go.

I completely agree with this. But that being said, let's not forget that we were only 4 points away from winning the Super Bowl last season. If Chad Lewis was healthy for that Super Bowl game, there is no doubt in my mind we would have won it - he "has to" get injured on the last play in the previous NFC championship game. Typical Philly sports bad f'ing luck.
As often happens with any NFL team - this just wasn't meant to be our year. The TO thing, Pinkston going down, Buckhalter going down (as usual), Fraley going down, Akers was out, the punter goes down, and other things going wrong.
Reid is a terrible game day coach - unfortunately he is a control freak which sometimes isn't a bad thing but in the case of constantly making mistakes during the game, he needs someone in the booth who can quickly shout something in his ear and hopefully he will listen. Reid is "hooked" on always trying to fool the other team with plays. Well often in the NFL, you should just play to your strengths until the other team stops you. Dallas hadn't stopped the run all day, and then Reid has to try some stupid pass play at the wrong time. Just rediculous. Again...somebody has got to put a bug in his ear during certain times in the game to make the proper calls.
As far as McNabb, he needs something, I'm not sure what - better coaching or some kind of psychiatric counseling to get him over the hump because way too many times he gets that "daze" in his eyes during key points in some games and he makes glaring mistakes. Maybe he works so hard during games, he gets mentally exhausted or something...maybe some better nutrition or salt pills or something can help him maintain his focus in certain situations.
My opinion is I don't have any problem with the Reid - McNabb combination. We just need to improve on it a bit and get some help in some areas. The Eagles still have a solid foundation of talent to build on. Reid & McNabb have been around a while but they are still "young" as far as overall experience in the NFL. Reid was a rookie head coach when hired and McNabb is by no means "old" as far as the quarterback position - you could even say he is still young at that position. So yes, this season is basically shot, but I still believe the future looks good and I still believe that we'll win at least a few Super bowls before the Reid - McNabb era is over.
We are used to losing. Plain and simple as well as a fact. Every so often the city sees a team gels like the Eagles team for the past five seasons. We seemed to have everyting in order: a winning coach who has drafted great (except Mitchell), an All-Pro QB in McNabb, and a great defense. Like most Philly teams, the Eagles finally make it to the big game. It was a tough loss but it was a GREAT game ... they could have won the game, but were beat by an NFL Dynasty in the New England Patriots. Deep down inside, we knew that this season could spell trouble. The omens were there - McDougle gets shot, Simon signs elsewhere, TO became the TO we came to loathe. Then McNabb gets hurt ... he plays, but we know it will end. It does against the cowboys.
Now the accusations come flying ... Reid can't coach, Reid is arrogant and stubborn, McNabb pukes, etc, etc, etc .. I don't entirely disagree, and here's why.
It is almost as if the Philly Phaithful (and we are) know these very statements to be true ... deep down inside. Reid is stubborn. The Eagles at times seem to be full of themselves. Sometimes I think about the first of McNabb's three picks against New England. I will always remember the last one. If McMahon leads the Birds to a few wins, and looks good in the process - look out WIP. There is already talk of TO coming back, as Lito Sheppard conducted a locker room "poll" ... it was unanimous apparently. Including McNabb ....
However, Reid has WON games. So has McNabb. No other team has one more in the past five seasons. One ring is all we needed. The team has solid nucleus for next season. Reid has gone against his philosophy by signing TO and bringing back Trotter. Far fetch, but TO is not an ex-Eagle just yet. This is a strong team who is not mathematically eliminated. A spark could happen.
Being a Philly fan is tough work. But we still go to work every day.
You got that right 1420. As I'm sure you know, Philadelphia has the longest drought of not having any championship team of any city which has the 4 "major" sports. No championship teams in the NFL, MLB, NBA or NHL since the Moses Malone led 76ers team of 1983. That's 22 f'ing years. TWENTY-TWO F'ING YEARS! And it's not like we were winning tons of championships before then.
Yes, being a Philly fan is tough work, and some would say we are gluttens for punishment...and I wouldn't disagree with them. But except for the 76ers...the Eagles, Phillies and Flyers certainly are capable of winning a championship in the near future so there's always hope. I just sometimes get tired of the "hope" - I want a championship!!!!!
I agree that there is hope...and will never give up on any Philly team. It sure is tough work and fits the character of the Philly area. The city is tough on its teams and expects the coaches and players to be just as passionate. The Philly player who blows a game and says "man I just f'ed up and will die trying next time" is a hero.
A couple of anecdotal notes from Monday night.
Midway through the first quarter when the Eagles were running the ball, and doing so with ease. The guy sitting next to my wife turned to her and said "somebody kidnapped Andy Reid and put someone else in his place."
Sitting on the subway at Pattison Ave. waiting for the express to leave. The game is ending and we can get a faint signal underground on our radios. The car is full of fans...and one lone Cowboy fan gets on. He says "it's gonna be a long ride home." My wife looks at me and says that my eyes turned red with hate. She thought I was going to belt him and quietly tells me to control myself. I ask him "where did you grow up?" He says "in a house," then corrects himself and says he is from Philly. I tell him that he is a disgrace. He proceeds to tell everyone that he knew the Cowboys would come back and some other trash. No one jumps him. In fact the conversation and comments dwell on the Eagles failure in the clutch.
Buying tokens for the subway ride to the game. The SEPTA guy behind the glass has on a Cowboys hat. I say "please tell me you are from Texas." He says "no, Philly." I say "isn't there a law against that?" and we both share a laugh. I wish him luck.
On the train to the stadium a woman's voice yells my name. It's not my wife, who is next to me. It's an old family friend....from Texas. I hug her while searching my mind to remember if her family are Cowboys fans. Can only think that they are from New Orleans originally and we watched an LSU game together earlier this year. I ask her if she's in town for the game. She says "no a business conference." Whew. I'd have hated to sic the wife on her with the "Monday Night Beat Down," especially since there was no mud, jello, or oil around to add to the effect. Guess the family would have had a problem with that. She is with a coworker who has a ticket to the game. He says he's from the West Coast where no one cares if their team wins or loses and as a real sports freak it bugs him. I tell him to enjoy the experience. She tagged along just to hang out until game time. We take a picture together for her family in front of the Rocky statue. This encounter really happened, but of course the "beat down" stuff is a joke.
Philly fans are not all bad, for whatever knocks we take from the rest of the country. There is no other city like it for sports and this is much of the problem others have with us. We will not give up. Tampa? Everyone is from somewhere else and rides the wagon until a wheel falls off. The Bucs fight song? Nothing, nada, zilch. The only thing they can do is yell TAMPA......BAY across the field from each other as if they need to remind themselves that they don't live in Minnesota anymore. New York? Too many teams for any real fans. It all gets lost in the shuffle, but Philly does identify with them. There is a shared respect. Dallas? Please. A few losses and they're all home waxing the pickup and kicking the dog. America's Team? Never. Why? Because America doesn't suck. Only Dallas would have a coach who grew up in New Jersey, pulled for and coached both New York teams and then had the audacity to suck up to Jerry Jones, die his hair blond, and take on a fake southern accent. That my friends is the epitome of a mercenary modern day Benedict Arnold. A true Giants fan (and coach) would die penniless before he took a job with the Cowboys.
I'll be there on New Year's Day for the last game...maybe in an empty section. Losing my voice again as the team battles the Redskins....maybe for a draft pick...maybe, just maybe for a playoff spot.
It doesn't matter. This is Philly sports and I defy anyone to find a better city for fandom.
Oh, and forget TO. He is not Harold Carmichael, Mike Quick, Ron Jaworski, Wilbert Montgomery, or any other Eagle who stuck with the team and remained loyal. Hell he's not even Vince friggin' Papale who had no business being on the field but was light years ahead of TO as a true Eagle. The only reason TO is now saying he wants to remain an Eagle is to look good at Friday's arbitration. How would he be viewed if he publicly said he wanted to play somewhere else? The ruling would go against him. Screw him, he does not deserve to wear the uniform. I'll take the losses, enjoy better days to come, and cheer when he gets laid out crossing the flat next year.
Thanks.
