Time to Gloat... First PSA 10... Edit - Scans

First the wife asks what's up with the $hit-eatin grin, then I had to stifle a yell when I saw that my first vintage PSA 10 was the one and only. Life is good!

  • at first i thought it was a 2002 Fleer Ultra Jay Gibbons....

but a spahn 61 Topps! NICE. Do you have a story behind the card? (where you bought it, for instance).

    Awesome! And a 9 on a 1965 Brock too!

Picked it up several years ago on ebay - looked great in a scan; looked better in person; must have pulled the loupe out 25 times since looking for a flaw; never found one. Just incredibily lucky I guess, and helps to make up for all the foolish purchases I have made as well. image

Good question. I have no clue. I could tell you what any 61 Topps goes for in an 8. Since this is the only 10 of this card it could be a lot. Trust me, this is the only way I'll ever acquire a PSA 10 in a vintage card. Stealing from a Bobby Jones quote, it's a market of which I am unaware.

    Great job!

That Spahn in 10 is a great accomplishment. besides being a hi number it is from a desirable subset too.

My guess on value? I would say at the least 2 k Rob McBride would know though.

I would agree with that except that I think (thought) it would be impossible to find ANY vintage star cards in 10, let alone a 61 AS. It was hard enough for me to find an Spahn 8. I'm stunned.
