Unless I'm totally misreading the picture, it looks like it had the living hell cleaned out of it, then retoned through exposure to sulfur. The colors on their own aren't bad, but I can't see any evidence of luster beneath them. They look painted over a stripped, dead surface.
On the good side, it doesn't look heavily hairlined, and the reeding mark in the right obverse field makes me think it's at least genuine.
