    Spammy, is that you?

This needed it's own thread? Why not just add in to the existing MVP discussion?

    Sorry Axhole
As much as you continue to think that I am Gemmy, I am certainly not.
And like ARod winning the MVP wasnt going to make its own thread! haha!
I knew this thread would bring out the worst of the worst but I didnt realize you would react so quickly Axhole! The anger and envy that burns inside of you is humorous!

Why would we Yankee haters care about the MVP? We care about the WS.

Congrats to A-Rod, the best shortstop in either league.

ARod getting the MVP only inflames the whole Yankees thing. Im sure they all have their reasons why...just take a look at past postings. I just wanted to get it started image

You should probably get a doctor to take a look at that.

    Man you should seek counseling.

I have said repeatedly that Arod should win...

As much as you yankee lovers think everyone else HATES the yankees, i think you all think that everyone else hates the yankees a lot more than we actually do.

Hmmm...you could be right for once...I just might need counceling! image
  • I hate the Yankees - but I can live with this decision.

Barry, all is good. Know nothing idiots like Axtell are a dime a dozen. It is hip to be anti New York in this CLOWNS image eyes. He is no where near alone. No matter how good a player is in the New York market, there is ALWAYS somebody who is better at every position, on every team, and in every sport. Twisting every happening until it suits his/her warped view. Forget that Axtell CLAIMS to be a Seattle Mariner fan, his obsession is everything New York. image

your anti-Axtell obssession is wearing thin. If you bothered to read my post on this statement you'd see I was actually defending Arod winning the MVP award.

However, in yours (and it seems EVERY yankee mind) you can't live with the knowledge that there are fans out there whose lives DON'T revolve around NY sports. Your arrogance seems to extend so much that you feel if someone's not a yankee fan, they MUST hate ALL things yankees.

The typical yankee fan seems to think that their team is so big that people either love them or only think about hating them. I am glad I don't live in softie's world - it must be a dark, lonely place full of jealousy that fans outside NY love their teams - win or lose. In NY, as evidenced by a poster above, fans are more rabid about Arod' gambling forays than his (well-deserved) MVP award. Just goes to show you what type of fanbase the yankees REALLY have.

Soft, why don't you try posting something that actually ADDS something to a conversation, instead of just riding my coattails and bringing NOTHING to a discussion.

Unlike some fans on this board (and they know who they are), they are only yankee 'fans' because of winning 26 world series...because they've been succesful in the past, and they could care less who plays for the team, as long as they win, they are happy. Hell, Steinbrenner could sign satan and they'd be happy if he could get them some more wins.

Pretty funny, that some people think to be a fan, your team has to have won championships.

Guess it's a commentary on a majority of people in this country being a bunch of front running bandwagon riders. Must suck to have no emotional attachment to your team, though.

    Oh well.

Darn it! I have been found out! All the World Championships the Yanks won is the ONLY reason I became a fan of the Yanks when I was 7 years old. I was looking at the Baseball Encyclopedia saying to myself..."Self, just find the team who has won the most world series and that is who you will like because I know how shallow of a 7 year old I am." And from there is was history and have been a Yankees fan ever since!
I can tell you it had nothing to do with watching the '77 Yankees in the playoffs against the Royals or watching Reggie hit those HRs against the Dodgers in the World Series....nor did it have anything to do with watching Bucky Dent hitting that famous HR against the Red Sox the following year. It definately had nothing to do with the state I live in...that you can be sure of!
I guess it's just too bad I didnt watch baseball when Fisk hit his famous HR or watch the Big Red Machine win their world series...because then I may have become a Red Sox or Reds fan.
It really sucks when people have figured you out. Oh well....

Hmm all your 'reasons' are postseason successes. Thank you for emphasizing my point so clearly.

You are a complete joke Axhole! That was me at 7 years old!
You seemed to ignore what else I had said about if I had watched a couple of years before that...I may have ended up a Red Sox fan or a Reds fan. At 7 years old I'm quite sure I would have been pretty easily influenced.
And BTW, thats is how I discovered my favorite beer....it must be Budweiser right? Aren't they the king of all beers? Yes, when I was 7 no one handed me a Coors, just a Bud and I was a fan ever since! But we know that Budweiser is the beer world's evil empire and we should hate everything about them! Except for me...because I was too easily influenced when I was 7! DRINK UP! image

yankeeno7, Mr big pants axtell has supposedly been a Mariner fan since the mid 90's image You know as a 7 year old kid in the mid 90's axtell watched the Mariners because they were a good team. Has been bitter ever since, all these long years

You tried to make your point, but ax is a tree stump. image

OK historians, this is going nowhere .....beer is mentioned here. Let's take a twist. Anybody got the lyrics for Schaeffer, Rheingold or Ballantine in the 70's? Their advertising was almost exclusive to baseball media at the time, and their market was NY baseball beer drinkers. Regards. Let's have fun.

You could do a lot worse than A-Rod for MVP.

I was pleased that Jeter, Sheffield, and Rivera were also in the top 10. Sheffield could have won too but he kept getting caught with nagging injuries, but he played through them like a gutsy player. The injuries did not put him out for long at all, but they caused his numbers to soften a little. Still good for top 10, but not first place on the ballot. A-Rod was healthy throughout. I also think that Sheffield contributes a little in each game, while A-Rod, by comparison moves in spurts. Wasn't it this year that A-Rod hit 9RBI in one game. It was some god-like number.

  • I think the saddest part about this whole thing is that the Yankees had ( 4 ) players in the top ten in the MVP voting and didn't even make it to the World Series.

Well, $hit happens. Just goes to prove that it makes no difference how much money is spent because the entire team has to perform.
