So, Now that it looks like PCGS is updating the Price Guide.......

............ has anyone noticed if it is becoming more realistic with actual sales ?

eBay
Heritage
Teletrade

...etc...
?

Ok, Maybe a little clarification is necessary.

On the pricing that has been updated does it seem to be more in line with actual sales you have experienced, or seen ?

  • Not even close for MS Kennedys ---- sure glad I'm not paying there prices for my coins, but sure would be nice to sell at there prices. Exanple 02 D in 67 there price 150.00 got mine last week for 22.00 and that's about average for the date, not a hard coin to find. I'm sure there are more but thats the one that's stand out. Maybe I will sit down and figure up the prices and mine I'm sure I would shocked. The bad thing is sellers on E-bay use it and start the auction close to the price stated and then wonder why they don't get a bid on there coins.
I have heard others say there side is low so I take there price guide with a grain of salt and do my own research.

  • they're still a bit unrealistic....but if I could SELL for those prices, I'd have 1/2 my collection out the door..........JMO.

They are high on some and low on others in 20th Century gold......They are especially low on the really rare coins.....Probably because of lack of history....Seems they haven't updated to reflect the prices realized in the Phillip Morse sale.....

These published price guides are really almost useless.....

Looks like I am still paying 2-3x more than PCGS prices.
