Does anyone make a market in coin BOOKS?

topstuftopstuf Posts: 14,803 ✭✭✭✭✭
Just due to weight and shipping, I hesitate to offer on ebay. But it would sure be nice if someone bought and sold numismatic books so UPS could just take a package.

Varied stuff: Penny Whimsy, Taxay, Clain-Sefanelli, Breen Proofs, various and sundry stuff.

Got no idea on prices. That's the only advantage ebay has. It sets a price by a buyer. Anyone do that on a commercial basis?

PS I have no auction catalogs.

Orville Grady has a lot of books for sale at fixed prices at his site gradybooks.com

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

List them on eBay with low starting prices. Some will do very well and some won't, but you will get your money quickly. Numismatic books with specialized subject matter tend to do the best. General interest numismatic books usually don't draw much interest.

kranky....thx for the site. Will check out. Really want to do a BATCH and not mess with individual books.

BUT...... beggars can't be floozies. (or some such)

I'm bookmarking this thread so I can put titles if I decide to offer individually. Thanks for inquiries, but at this time I am looking for a buy price on bulk or something.

If I have to sell individually, I will put on ebay and get bidder prices.

I was premature on this question apparently and opened a door I hadn't expected.

I have NO idea on prices as these have been bought over past 30+ years.

Thank you for interest, but not yet.

Selling in bulk will most likely be a mistake. Sell the better titles individually.

  • If you do insist on selling them as a group, there are several numismatic book dealers, Orville Grady, Charlie Davis, Fred Lake, George Kolbe.
