Be nice to forum members

I was just wonderen if anyone has ever give a forum member a bargain on a coin just to see the coin on ebay later.

  • Many forum members have given me free coins or coins for a discount and I would never even think about selling them. I think it would be just wrong to do that.
  • I know people have won giveaway coins and sold them. At least, that's what I've heard.

I've presumed that people who needed to sell them needed to sell them. When they get it, it's their coin, to do with as they see fit. I've never given it a second thought.

Once I give something away, I do not care what the recipient does with the item. Lately, I have given away far more books than coins. Books are perhaps less liquid than coins, but IMO, a better gift.

Yep, several times. No sweat off my nuts. Once I've sold it, they can do whatever they'd like.

I've never sold a giveaway. I'll eventually give smoe of them to my nephew if he gets interested, but I won't sell them.

just goes to show the coin in the give away had more meaning
to the giver than the person who recieved it.

next time pick a coin you care less about ;-)

joking... but once given away... it seems it would be ok to me.

I have had that happen to me...sold some stuff to someone cheaper than I could have becasue I thought it would go to a collector that really needed them...

Showed up on ebay a month later...and he sold them for what I could have. Not really upset, but that person wont get any similar treatment in the future.

I would never sell a giveaway coin...

Or, if I badgered the person to lower the price on a coin.

However if someone sells a coin here cheap by there own free will, I would have no problem reselling it if I did not enjoy the coin.

I don't think that would be too big of a deal. Perhaps the person came across a better coin shortly after, and needed to part with the first one to afford it.

As far as the board giveaways, I think it would generally be in poor taste to even enter one if you didn't think you wanted the coin. If you receive it and don't like it, politely return it to the sender so it could be given to someone who *would* like it. Or even better, ask the sender if there was someone else you could mail it to, and save the sender the postage.

I've never entered a board giveaway because I don't think I've contributed enough knowledge/discussion/whatever to merit being included. I think there's a big difference between being an occasional poster and being a real "member" of the board.

I'm with you and RYK. It's the same to me as walking away from a slot machine in Vegas, I don't want to know what happens after. Just none of my business.

Hence the word "giveaway" - no conditions. Do what you will image

I haven't received a bargain from anybody here (I think), so I'm not sure what I would do with it. Who wants to cut me a sweet deal so I can see how I react? image
