1,400 lbs meteorite found.........

this was found in Kansas I wonder what that sounded like when it was found! The guy that found it says it is worth in the seven figure amount does anyone here look for these things?I used to look for crystals

  • wow! I look for them, but they are difficult at best, you really need to dig every signal to find them and even then, you can't always be sure what you have unless you know what you're look for. I found 1 in a year of detecting (very small, in a public park).

  • A 1,400-pound meteorite was discovered 7 feet underground in southern Kansas.
    Using a metal detector mounted on a three-wheel vehicle, Steve Arnold of Kingston, Ark., found the meteorite two weeks ago.

    The meteorite is classified as an oriented pallasite, a type noted for a conical shape with crystals embedded in iron-nickel alloy. Only two larger ones of that type have been found: a 3,100-pounder in Australia and a 1,500-pounder in Argentina.



    Now I want to see his detector rig he mounted on his ATV.

    he probly used the kind that finds bodys in concrete I saw one on myth busters once they were looking for hoffa
