Return OK minus Paypal fees???

stmanstman Posts: 11,352 ✭✭✭✭✭
What's up with this? I see many sellers (yes including board members) offer a return. Yet, they say minus the Paypal fees...
if you paid with PP. If they refund through Paypal, they get their fees back. So, what's up with this? Just trying to learn here.image

  • They probably don't realize that the fees will be refunded to them.

Can you do a partial refund thru PayPal or does it have to be 100%?

Highly unlikely, IMO. I believe this is their way of dissuading you from returning. Kind of like a "restocking" fee. It's full-on BS in my opinion.

BTW - A partial refund also results in an equivalent partial refund of the paypal fees.

this is nearly as lowdown and dirty as "refund minus ebay fees".

Ebay refunds all fees except the listing fee, I believe.

    I fully agree.

When I see this term, I write a check.

That's right. I've always wondered though, if the seller used the $20. Featured Plus would it be proper to return a refund minus this fee?

I've had a couple of returns, but never on a featured coin, so I don't know.

    Pat,

I'd have no problems letting the seller keep his listing fee for something I returned but I believe that most want ALL fees.

I consider some things the cost of doing business. When a coin is returned the full price of the coin, less shipping, should be returned. Ebay sellers charging restocking fees I consider "no returns accepted sellers", and I bid a significant amount less.image

I for one did not know that Paypal fees would be refunded. I've advertised on th BST and sold on Ebay stating I will take returns minus fees. My apologies. I guess it serves me right to not read everything in detail.

I just wish PayPal had an easy button to hit for refunding payment minus shipping charges. That way it would save a lot of math.

Or do they have such a thing & I just haven't seen it?

Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.
