Registry questions.....

DIMEMANDIMEMAN Posts: 22,403 ✭✭✭✭✭

First, I have seen coins in sets listed as "no grade" how do you get ungraded coins in the Registry?

Second, I have seen some coins in the registry pictured in NGC holders. Do they allow NCG coins in the Registry now?

Any comments would be welcomed.

Thanks, Jon

    Dimeman,

If a coin gets sent in for regrade and it is already in a PCGS holder, the registry will 'No Grade' the individual coin. The previous cert no longer exists. The set ranking and grade stays the same for a period of time to allow the owner to re-enter the new cert number.

NGC coins are not allowed in the registry but people use previous photos to save some time. The NGC or other holdered coin would have been sent into PCGS for crossover.

I've had No Grades but will reshoot the photos to be consistent within my sets.

    Badger,

Thanks for the info. Just wanted to know. I've been away from the board and collecting for about 2 or 3 years and thought maybe some rules had changed.

    Thanks again, Jon

Badger, well said as I am an active participant in both the PCGS and NGC registries.
