Rose Registry - High Demand?

I was just curious...hopefully those who are active with the Pete Rose registry might be able to help.

Is there much demand out there for graded Rose singles? I've contemplated putting together a basic set, and was just curious if there is a lot of competition for 8's and 9s?

Thanks for any insight you can offer.

    Ax:

I think most of the competition is for PSA 10s. 8s and 9s are tough for certain issues, like 1971 Topps, 1971 Topps Greatest Moments, and any hard-to-find oddballs. But most cards from the basic and master set should be fairly easy to find and not sell for premiums in 8s and 9s.

I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.
  • Adding to what Marc said I would add that most auctions for PSA Rose cards that start at reasonable levels to see some healthy action. You might not always expect every card to go to SMR but generally there is always interest.

Never met a Vintage card I didn't like!
  • In the 72 set the Rose 8s and 9s usually sell for very close to SMR. It is a card that always has buyers. If you need a 72 PSA 8 let me know. I have a nice well centered one that you can find on my website http://www.southfloridasportscards.com.

One Rose card that has always been pretty popular is the 1979 Topps/Burger King showing him in the Phillies uniform. I surprised myself by winning one of these in PSA 8 for about $16.50. Considering only 11 of these have graded an 8 with none higher, I'm surprised they don't go higher.

    Thanks for the insight gang.

I think I might start, but start with the cards in the 80s first. I am going to work on the basic set before attempting anything of the master set (if I get there), though I do have a 1984 fleer update in 10 that I submitted.
