Geezzzz, Marty.... What did your expect for free?image
  • Well, it doesn't score on eye appeal, but if it's any consolation, there's might be more to it than just being free. The mintmark is clearly a D/S variety, and those horns on the lettering, I'm not so sure if it's a well known variety but a couple of months ago, I saw a 1945 10 or 20 centavo on ebay which was being sold as a (I can't remember the exact description) "horned legend" or maybe it was "horned coin" variety.

Thank you for noticing the D/S, I knew that it was, I wondered if anyone was paying attention....image I also noticed the legend, But figured it was die chatter or some kind of die deteriation. Thank's for the info, I'll check to see what i can find out about it.

I checked eBay completed auctions couldn't find anything. Maybe someone here might know?

    Thank's,
    Ozzysdad....
  • You're welcome Ozzysdad. Too bad, I had it on my watching list, if I haven't deleted it yet it might still be in my inbox
  • Hi ozzysdad, I couldn't find the eBay listing of the coin similar to yours. I asked {b]Justhavingfun's opinion regarding the "horns" and he thinks that they're possibly just the dies "flow lines that grew deeper over time." Sounds solid to me...
