That's a good question. How about we put the over/under at $350, which this beauty (a card that is 27 years older) sold for:

Interestingly enough rbd, I have a 76 Griese in PSA 10 on my Christmas list, so if you're still looking for the perfect gift for me . . .image

    The pop report shows 18 - 9's and 3 - 10's for Griese, and only 5 - 9's and 1 - 10 for David.

So the 1959 card is three times tougher to find in high grade than the 1976 card,
but Bob Griese is a popular player and Jim David is not.

Still, since the David card is a 1 of 1, I'll take the under on the $ 350 for the Griese.

Wow! I think I would have passed that card over if it were in my collection because it looks OC. I gotta look through my 59's.

Back to the issue, I too would say under $350 because the GRIESE(rbd you edit every post but the one with the typo in the title) doesn't have great eye appeal. I would say it is borderline on centering t/b. I would guess the Griese ends at $156.53.

Griese not Greese, thanx for the "type-o heads up!"

    edit: My guess $100

Well, here are two raw 1959 scans (lesser grades, but check out the tops of each). One looks simular to yours with the top of head going over the top, while the other scan looks more (normal) centered, maybe there are two varieties?

Wow! I figured the card for less! The reserve has been met, and the current bid is $ 250.00! edit: Ended: $280!

13 bids so far on this Griese card!

    edit: SMR is $ 120.00!

Holy Cow! I wonder if it would have gotten there without a reserve? We will see if it will budge soon. I know 76's are tough, but I don't think that tough.

That's crazy. With 3 10's I would have guessed lower. Is there a lot of 1976 set builders on the registry? Griese collectors?

I was 2nd high bidder on this card. One of the other 10's sold on E-Bay in the last 6 months and if I remember correctly it went in the upper 200's as well. Even though there are 3 10's, this card is actually a little tougher than most 76's to find in high grade. I would have been happy to add it to my set for 275.

  • I purchased a Psa 9 of this card for $36.00 6 months ago. My card is centered perfectly with four razor sharp corners. Sometimes I think the premium associated with a Psa 10 card is a bit ridiculous.

I agree with Sayhey. Is it really "worth" that much more for a 10 than a 9? I guess I don't understand.

Well, a PSA 8 version of this same card sold for under $5 recently (a little over $7 counting shipping), so one could argue that there's a premium associated with a PSA 9 as well.

I'm not trying to disagree with you sayheykid or larryallen, I struggle with this same thing every day. I collect PSA 4/5/6 1950's cards purely because of my budget, but then I see the set registry awards or rbdjr's 1976 set, and I start to get the urge to put together a top notch set too. I guess everyone has their motivations. I wish I could figure out mine.
