I got my 2006 Spink Catalog today!

I think I get more excited waiting for this one than any other book. This year they have added some info to the hammered section and of course prices are up again. It also has a cool cover this year.image

I wonder if I can get it through Barnes and Noble. I have a bunch of gift cards from them.

I have one of the old Seaby catalogs on Scotland, Ireland et cetera, but I only collect English so I have never updated it. I'm sure you'll enjoy it and hope you'll post a review when you get it.

  • I have the Spinks for Scotland and the Islands as well. It is a good book for Jersey and Guernsey with some of the more prominant varieties listed, but if you really want to get into serious varieties, I recommend getting a copy of the Exley book titled Guernsey Coinage. Lists something like 113 different varieties across the pre-decimal coins (including die pairs and the like). The book is long since out-of-print but they occasionally come up on ebay (mine was the second one that I'd seen in the last couple of months). The book also contains some very interesting and informative history of the Guernsey coinage.

I thought that Spink made a mess of it - the rims are totally uneven on the photographs.
