I just sent a customer to a competitor

He was interested in an 1881-CC Morgan 66 DMPL, that I have. He wanted to know if it was the best I had ever seen. I told him that it was nice, but not as nice as a competitors for $5000 more. He told me that he would take a look at the other dealers coin. I will die broke, but honest.

That honesty should bring that customer back again.
My humble '63 mint registry set, not much, but it's mine!

I get a thrill when a dealer turns me away on a coin purchase, and it always bring me back again.

Is the competitor's coin really $5000 nicer? Don't be surprised if he comes back to buy your coin.

Not to me, but to him it may be. Either way, I have a good relationship with the other dealer, so I would be happy for them, if they sold the coin.
