MS62 and Other Between Grade Pricing Guidelines

What method do you use to fill in prices for grades not listed in your price guide of choice?
For example, assume you use CDN, and have a better date Morgan in MS62. CDN gives "Bid/Ask" for MS60 and MS63, but not MS62 (or MS61). How do you arrive at a bid/ask for the MS 62 Morgan?
I've seen people employ a number of methods. Here are some examples in no particular order.
(1) Take a little (sometimes very little) off of the MS63 bid/ask.
(2) Take the ratio of the Bluesheet MS62 to MS63 bid and multiple it by the CDN MS63 bid or ask.
(3) Just use the Bluesheet for MS bids listed in CDN.
Of course if you are familiar with the actual market for the coin this is not a problem- you know the price.

61 and 62 are just about interchangeable on my coins. If I covered the grade on all 25 coins --I doubt that many people could make the call as to which is which. You get a hint by the generation of the holder but even that doesn't hold true all the time. I study these frequently and I have come to the conclusion that if you are going to pay money for a 62---you would be betta off seeing it in hand.
That is, the geometric mean of x and y is the square root of xy.
So if a coin was worth $50 in XF-40 and $200 in AU-50, I'd "interpolate" the XF-45 value using the geometric mean: the square root of (50 * 200) is $100.
Obviously, if I saw a really weird difference between nearby grades I might modify it, but as a rough estimate of value I think it usually works pretty well.
(4) Buy at CDN MS60 bid
MS-62 halfway between MS-63 and MS-60
MS-61 halfway between MS-62 and MS-60

AU-53 halfway between AU-55 and AU-50
XF-45 halfway between AU-50 and XF-40
VF-35 halfway between XF-40 and VF-20
VF-30 halfway between VF-35 and VF-20
VF-25 halfway between VF-30 and VF-20
F-15 halfway between VF-20 and F-12

<< <i>I assume the value of an AU-58 coin is "halfway" between MS-60 and AU-50. >>
You're not going to get any nice, PQ, true AU-58s this way. most of them sell for more than MS-60 money.
<< <i>You can always look on the PCGS Price Guide, they list all the grades. It will at least give you an idea. >>
Which price guide are you looking at? The column heading at PCGS Web Page Price Guide has the following column headings: PCGS #; Description; Desig; VF; EF; AU; 60; 62; 63; 64; 65; 66; 67.
Clearly PCGS does not list most of the recognized grades.
Dan, I like your method from the buying end. I'll take that nice MS62 '21 Peace dollar you have at CDN MS60 bid
See you in Fargo in 2 weeks

Crud... I was hoping I missed something. I wish PCGS listed prices for all grades.
We sold that a while back..It actually sold close to 60 price...(You missed the deal) There's a few in between pieces you may like...
I'll buy 58's over 60's all day long..As long as they're nice 58's.. They move a lot quicker too!
<< <i>I know this should call out the flame throwers, but I do not believe in PQ AU-58 coins. I agree that most AU-58 Morgans look better than most MS-63 Morgans, but I do not pay more for any AU-58 than I would for a MS-60. >>
Why should anyone flame you? I wish more people believed as you did. I'd get the nice 58s for much cheaper.
