    Let's try that again.

    Ken,

Roosies? Barbers? Bust? Seated? Full Bands or not?

    Oh -- the suspense image

All Mercs and all graded. 16 are dates before 1930. Most are nothing special but they will fill holes in my Capital AU/Low BU Merc Board.

    Hmmmm......am I back or not ??

I will say that one coin was a 18S graded MS65 by PCGS. It looks to be the best struck one I have seen in some time. The Heritage pictures are/were crappy so I will not say anything else.

Maybe if the Heritage pictures would have been better I would have tried for a couple more coins.

For the first time in 2 years, I didn't bid on one Merc at Heritage.

Was the sale any good, or I should say were the coins any good?

  • FairlanemanFairlaneman Posts: 10,423 ✭✭✭✭✭
Hey Mike I was looking at all of the 5XXXXXXX slabbed coins in this sale. Only 1 of the coins was liked. The rest just looked, well. funky. Especially the 27S that would have been bid on if it was even half decent.

Thanks for the advice/warning on that number run.

I overpaid for a 1921-D 63fb. I was hoping their photo really sucked because it is dark. We'll find out.

By some standards some that I won are low life Widgets. Oh well.

Mike the online auction had a few pretty nice coins in my opinion. Some went fairly cheap compared to what I have seen lately. The main auction was not watched at all.

Tony its hard to overpay on a 21 dated coin. I think you will be just fine.

I thought there was a mixture of poorly graded and some nice mercs in that sale.
I got a few mercs in each dallas sale.
Only one in a 500 series holder.
Now I have only 1 merc left to complete my set.

Jim and Marc how are you guys ? The coins bought were not much at all except maybe the 18S. The lottery was not hit and the chilly nights made me keep the long johns. I did sell part of the sand I bought two years ago so sand turned into silver ladies. Good trade off I thought.

Good to hear from you guys.

    Ken,

I am glad to see that you are still carrying the Merc torch. I still have my Mercateer T-shirt. What coin did you miss out on?

Hi Rick, nice to hear from you also. Just a couple more people to hear from now. Jon, Dimeman, has been sending PM's also and maybe he will jump in here and say hello also.

The elusive 18P with No Bands was the coin I fell asleep on.

    Cheers.

    Ken,

That coins was a Pop 1 coin when I sold it. This may be another one as I think more were certified. What did it go for?

"Jim and Marc how are you guys?"

    Ken,

The old Merc gang isn't dead - just hibernating.

Actually, I've been laying low with my coin purchases after 12 days in the hospital. I'm back to normal physically, but even with insurance, it may take some time to be fiscally normal. image Until the dust settles, I'll have to get my thrills from coins that others have found.

It's good to see you back in the game. Your '18-S looks decent in the scan, so it will probably look great when you see it in person. Did Heritage contract their photos out to the lowest bidder or something? You'd think that a company that bills itself as the largest coin dealer in the world would be able to do a better job with photos.

Rick it was not the one you had. I could be wrong but I think yours/Larry's is in the Fun Auction. The one I had in the sights was a MS65 coin.
