observations and questions about registry sets

Anyone else notice that there has been a ton of material changing hands lately at decent prices, and yet nowhere near the activity in the registry sets?
If you look at the coins that sale at auction for $500 and up, what percentage would you think would be purchased by registry set owners and added to their sets? 50%? 40%? 30%? 20%? 10%? 5%?
I think the registry sets are very popular, but my guess is that far less than 10% of the auction sales (of coins above $500) get added to registry sets. What is your view?
Why don't you think more people have registry sets?

Many sales are for sets that aren't normally included in the registry. There are also
sales to dealers and speculators who are merely passing the coins along. And, there
are lots of collectors who simply have no interest in sharing their sets or in competing
in the registry.
Some colllectors may have one or two extremely high grade coins in an otherwise lower
grade set so have no interest in registering it.
