    What about the 33 Saint?

    << <i>What about the 33 Saint? >>

Good question. That's a gray area, IMO.

the 1933 saint does not count as it was not a regular mint issue if it was there would be more than one and also the other ten held by the feds would be legal to own

yes the 1933 is a grey area and also the 27-d is clearly a regular no brainer issue coin

the 1933 is not and at best grey area

you can show me any 27-d and it is legal to own and was no questions released

    not so with the 1933

show me another 1933 and put it for sale in heritage and let it sell to the highest bidder not ever questioned by the feds and i will show you a chicken with lips

It did not dawn on us until the following afternoon, but we think you are correct: $1.9m is a record auction price for a regular-issue coin. C'mon Andy, you typically know this sort of trivia off the top of your head!

First, Todd, I'm surprised to hear you call a 33 Saint trivial. And to think I was just about to offer you one!

Second, just because a coin is not released doesn't mean it wasn't struck for circulation. In my book, that makes the 33 Saint a "circulation issue".

I think it's reasonable to exclude the 1933 Saint. Regular issue implies legal to own, no matter how many are identified.

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

    Mr. Lustig --
That's "trivia" not "trivial". Go ahead and sell it to Legend. I'm betting specimens #3 through #22 will be cheaper!

I'm with micheal on this one, the 33 saint is not a regular issue because it was never issued.

  • Perhaps we should add a pole to this thread to see if people beliveve the 1933 was in fact "issued." I for one do not think it was, JMO!

What kind of pole would you use. A flag pole or something else?
