Who will be dumb enough to take TO off the Eagles hands?

Just heard he is suspended for four games and then will not be allowed to return to the team.

  • Wow, he would make a wonderful addition with Randy Moss for the Raiders.

OK, I will now run away and hide......image

Whoever does end up with Owens will probably get the best season he has ever had out of him before he starts his crap again. No doubt he will play with something to prove for one season. if he ends up on a team with a good quaterback the sky is the limit.

I don't think the Eagles are going to release him this season. Let him rot.

I suspect you'll see a lot of teams interested in TO, even if it's just for the remainder of the season.

Any contract written will definitely have clauses in it that reward performance, and have stipulations for this off the field crap.

    He makes ANY team better.

  • The team won't let him go until after the season.

Keeping him inactive is best for the team since "TShmo" will not have the chance to run his fat mouth for the rest of the season. Of course some sports channel will put him on the air to analyze the Eagles play without him. Remaining on the team will at least minimize the chatter.

I supported TO for awhile but am now completely disgusted with his actions. More has come out and I understand there were other things that the team will not discuss publicly.

He has no class and is obviously in the game for himself and no other. A case in point being his donning the Irvin jersey in Dallas. I laughed it off at the time. Sure Philly loathes Dallas but we can take a joke too. However the players must have been seething. If one of the Eagles had been arrested for assault in separating TO from the jersey the player's bail would have been paid a thousand times over.

The city and the fans adopted TO from the beginning. In Philly this means a lot. He then proceeded to destroy the great relationship. If he died screaming tomorrow many would not shed a tear. That's the nature of Philly fandom.

This is a gutsy call by the Eagles and their fans support it. I for one will be screaming my a$$ off this Monday night at the Linc. It's push comes to shove time and there's going to be a lot of weight moving around.

Actually his contract with the Eagles is structured with his antics in mind. That is why he wanted to renegotiate after the first year. The team protected themselves by paying him a lower salary in the first and second years. This way they could let him go if he caused a problem and minimize the financial impact especially to the salary cap.

Is this the same formula that was supposed to make the Vikings super bowl contenders?

If Owens can't play for the best franchise in the NFL...then he won't be able to play well for anybody. Whatever he signs for with some team, it will be too much. I'm glad we are rid of this punk. Yes he caught footballs, but he was dropping a lot of passes also. Good riddance to this cancer. I have never rooted against a player who has left the Eagles, except on game day playing the Eagles, but I will be rooting for this POS to fall flat on his face.

Really I saw the "subtraction" play yesterday for the Raiders and saw the only catch he had all day. image Randy Moss never challenged his team to a fight apples and oranges. Moss never complained about his contract, Moss never said his team would be undefeated if Favre was his quarterback. Why would you want someone on your team that will turn on you in a heartbeat?

Moss was more towards the media then his team. he never riped on daunte i think he just had enough of playing in minny and wanted out. he has not been a problem at all for the raiders and i dont think he will be.
  • Moss never wanted out, Vikings wanted him out.

    Moss loved minny and daunte.

Someone mentioned Denver being a good fit for TO.

    I think it'd be perfect.

Just imagine if Owens had Jerry Rice's brain in his head!

    Wouldn't work.

    Jerry Rice has a heart.

Owens is a punk raised in the manner of many athletes these days. The team means nothing and they'll mutiny and jump ship in a heartbeat. Their loyalty is only to themselves and when they celebrate the team has nothing to do with it.

I saw Deacon Jones on ESPN Classic the other day. Here's a guy who broke into the league and shattered race barriers. On the field he was the Devil incarnate. Off the field he had class and style.

According to him he considers the trials he went through to pave the way for other athletes his greatest achievement.

Will Owens ever come close to being this respectable. No and the team that employs him will only invite trouble.
  • Like he said, Moss didnt want to leave Minny. I think he would have rather played his career here.

Is there a "Larry Brown" type coach in the ranks in the NFL? I don't think so. I am surprised his teamates could not control him...but there are really no domineering personalities on the team greater than him. McNabb is a pro and doesn't engage. Maybe he should have.....maybe his teamates wanted that.
