Krause lists a mintage of 12.

It seems very high priced at this level but it should be remembered that there are lots
of wealthy individuals who lived in this area at that time. There is also a relatively large
middle class in Rhodesia and a lot of interest in moderns worldwide.

The current price is multiples of my comfort level but if you collect this material you may not
see it become available again for a couple decades.

Based on the picture, I would have guessed that was a business strike instead of a proof, but I suppose there were no business strikes made?

Looks like it has a fingerprint on it, too.

But I guess one can't be too picky when the mintage was 12 pieces.

I personally could see a three-figure pricetag on something like that, but not four.

I was also leaning towards a business strike considering the rest of the items he is selling are all relatively common items.

If I had wanted to buy a low-mintage coin, I'd sooner have bought this one for about half of this one...

Low mintage modern stuff never seems to sell anywhere near Krause estimates, especially from minor countries... there's just no demand.
  • Looks like a business strike to me too. 25,000,000 mintage in Business Strike worth maybe 50 cents. Proofs 1970-72-73-75-76 all worth 750.00 lowest mintages 73-75-76 10 pieces each. Yea buy the Danish West Indies 20 cent for 1/2 the price.

Don't know if it is a business strike or not. In this case, I wouldn't buy this coin unless it was certified.

    Aye.

I've never seen a proof and only several of the uncs.

  • Looks like a business strike to me. My book only lists a business strike mintage of ten million, not 25 million, but either way it isn't worth anywhere close to what they are asking.
