OPC unopened boxes

Are they worth breaking? I have a few boxes from 77-79, maybe 2 or 3 of each. That I had for several years? or are they better left unopened. just curious.

They are worth opening if you enjoy opening them. Judging that you have had them for years I would say that you are better off selling them as is because anyone who can hold on to wax boxes IMO doesn't have the thrill of opening feeling.

I say sell because on a financial side, since you said Are the WORTH breaking?, I would say probably not. You will likely sell the unopened box for nearly what you would get for the cards if you broke the box, got them graded and then sold them. There is the possibility of making some good money if you pull that beautiful, dead centered rookie or star but if you were curious that card was in the box you likely would have opened them already. That being said, I think you should sell because it will save you time and probably money.

I for one am on the break it for the thrill side and have lost on boxes more than I have won. But I have amassed an awesome collection that I love and the boxes I lost on I think the cost of the thrill of ripping the packs was worth it. But that is just me. PM me if you want to sell any of those boxes as I may be interested.

Hold on to them and don't open them and down the road you will reap some good profit.

    I agree!

But if you need the money, you can sell the boxes now for simular pricing as Topps wax (maybe even a little premium?)

The last opc box I bought (I think a '78?), it cost me around $30 more than the Topps variety (fr. BBCX). You could just ask anyone on this thread that would be interested to PM you, and I'm sure some here would be interested in those (77-79) years.

    Salt them away!

And if you do rip them, I need a few raw singles from those years.image

I don't know if this would be true for 77 and 79. 77 Topps wax box goes for around $800 where a 77 OPC wax box goes for $425.
