New Darside purchase

I think a lot of you darksiders may find this Modern by most standards but Ive really fallen in love with the design and the price seemed right.

I have always thought that was a great design! Very nice example you won.

  • I love that design

Is it just me or is there a slight rub on the high point of liberty's nose?

Nice one. I used to have an AU-UNC piece that was nice n' shiny, but on closer examination, it proved to be too shiny. Somebody had chromed it.

By no means am I an expert on these coins, but I wonder if it is due to the strike. I have a few Frenh Indo-Chinese coins, and none of them have a "FPN" (Full Pointed Nose, in case TPG's want to use my designation).

  • I was thinking the same thing this morning. I'd love to find a fully struck example. I don't have my Krause with me and can't remember if this design was also struck in other years by mints other than the SF mint. I was just curious if it was a problem common to the design or just the mint making them.

  • Ive only seen pictures of the full nose. There is one on the cover of Krause 19th century 4th edition with the full honker. I noticed this on the coin before I purchased it, but all others Ive seen online in Unc are the same way. I would call it weak strike. It will probably effect the grade, or at least should. I cant wait to gaze for hours at the sparkling, frosty lustre! Yeah..Im nuts...so what.image
