Looking for '78 Elvis graded psa 9 or better. Does anyone know if someone has them?

I didn't check the pop on this set but is it really worth grading? I have a couple of sets but I didn't think they had increased in value at all.

Not sure that they have a lot of value, but I'm an Elvis fan and had this set growing up and would like to put it together graded.

There's someone with a 100% graded set already, so there's gotta be a couple of cards out there floating around. I've only picked up a couple at this point. Anyone know where I can find some in PSA 9 or better shape?

I have a few wax boxes that I was thinking of busting soon ArnyVee.....if I do and get anything worth grading I will definatly let you know.

One thing I do remember from the boxes Ive busted in the past is that the quality was pitiful......miscut, etc.....maybe the ones laying around here will be better....at least I hope so !

I've opened a few packs in the past and it really was difficult to find nicely centered cards. But, if you do, please keep me posted.

I've opened a few packs, but found lots of off-centered cards in those things. Tough little cards to find in good condition.

yeah...Special #2 is for 1972 to present sports & non-sports cards. $5/card 25 card minimum.

David, let me know what the cards in those packs look like. I've seen many off centered cards from this set. It's a tough one.

I ended up busting one box and immediately regretted the decision. They were absolutely pitiful. At least 80% were badly miscut. A large portion had printing flaws, and all had issues with slight touches to the corners. It seemed like the stock used would be prone to damaging easily.

The remaining few I sold off, with the warning that they all came from the same source as the one I busted.

Bri, that's what I encountered in those packs that I've opened. That's why I wanted to get someone else to go through the rippin' and get me those 9s

There are a couple of registered sets at 100% or close to it....so, maybe there are some lucky boxes out there or something.

i opened the box i had. i'm sending in 25 and we'll see what happens. i'm sure there will be a mixture anywhere from a 7 to hopefully a 10. all-in-all not too bad.

each pack had a ruined card due to gum stain on back but did not bleed thru and affect the front. i'll be selling off the lot of the ones i didn't grade. i know there are 2 complete sets not counting the 25 i'm submitting plus the remainder of the box, the box itself, and the wrappers.

BLEH! 19 grade worthy cards 50/50 8's or 9's. Very tough cards. Where the heck did all those PSA 10's come from????

I don't know....but, I didn't pull anything that looked like it would grade more than an 8....and that's generous.

There is a lot of 50 in PSA 8 at $102.00 with a Buy it now for $300 on Ebay if anyone is interested.

For your sake I hope you get those prices. But, the 9s have been going from $9 to $15 pretty consistently on eBay.

Anyone else get any back from PSA lately?

- that's depressing in a way on the 9s. these are tough to find in GEM shape period. maybe i've got my expectations too high on this lot. i'll plan on starting them out lower. thanks for the info.

Unfortunately, David is right. Tough to get graded high, yet not much demand.

I am running into the same thing with the 78 Donruss KISS set. I think the sets were made from the same stock. The KISS cards too are crappy, crappy, crappy and I have opened many boxes that have yielded very few gradeable cards. Because of that, and the lack of interest in grading those cards, I have been stuck at just under 75% on my set for some time. You guys need to submit these cards!

It's really something that is tough because unless you have multiple folks building the sets, they aren't worth submitting really. Luckily, I just picked up 35 PSA 9s from another collector that just got a sub back and I can't wait to add them to my set!

Those KISS cards and the Elvis cards are made from the same stock, I believe.

Holy mackerol....got my Elvis boxes and if the first two packs are any indication....I'm not going to be opening that second box.

Oh the wonders of 78 Donruss product! I busted my box of 78 Donruss first series last night (will post scans in another thread) and had a ton of cards that look just like what you are pulling. Hopefully you can still find a gem or two in the box!

I know that I haven't so far. But, I'll keep rippin' after lunch and tomorrow morning (I work tonight) to see what I can pull.

Something interesting....every card #55 is cut at least 1/8th of an inch short in this box. I know that it's not the case with all of this card because there are at least two of them that have been graded a 10.
