When you flip a coin the rev should be right-side up like the obv....is this true with..?

is this true with canadin coins also?

    I know it's true of all US coins that I am aware of but I wonder if it's true of ALL US coins even in the past. Also, that is a good question for the foreign coin forum. Do all countries have their coinage so that the coin is always face up as you flip it end over end. Actually it must be stated to flip it top over and not side over.

  • Swedish coins don't and the one canadian coin I have has to be flipped sideways.


    Edited to reiterate:.....the top of the coin is the same on the obverse and the reverse, so you have to flip it sideways. In other words, they are the opposite of US coins in that regard.

  • so the canadian coins all left to right flip? Thats why I was asking....I happened to check my change and noticed that the canadian penny I have filp left to right and not over. Thought maybe I found something interesting.

    I think it varies with the issues... the only coins I have any experience with are $100 Commemoratives, and they are Medal Orientation
