Pics of 1904O Morgan

As promised, here are the photos front and back of the 1904O. Any flaws, shadows or bruising shown are a result of my photo skills and abilities and are not on the coin. This coin is perfect and shiny

Lusterous! This issue from New Orleans usually is a little mushy on the strike. Yours is great! Nice!

What will it grade in your opinion?

    Looks 64/65ish
Always looking for attractive rim toned Morgan and Peace dollars in PCGS or (older) ANA/ANACS holders!

I agree with Anablep, that's a very well struck O mint Morgan. Nice coin & thanks for sharing...Mike

I'd like bigger photos, but from what I can see (and assuming it has great lustre), it looks like a 66 to me.
    When in doubt, don't.
  • Nice 1904-O at least MS-64 but I thought we were going to see the 1904-S.

Also great pictures, very difficult to get a coin pic in a plastic holder and that is a great shot.

From the pictures shown, I can't tell if the strike is good or not- the luster looks good, but it would look better with some attractive toning!

nit4alaf: The 1904-O Morgan is a very common issue.

However, the 1904-S is a scarce and expensive coin that we are waiting to see... image

You know you are absolutely right. Even though you said S in the original thread, I was reading O. Even when I responded. Maybe because the O is a beautiful coin and the S isn't as pretty. I beg your pardon. The S not in a plastic case. As you can see, it's not near the quality of the O. So sorry.

nit4alaf: So far I can only see the obv photo. Based on that the coin appears to be circulated and possibly also harshly abrasively cleaned.

I can see a lesson for me in this. I really didn't do a very good job with the photo. The coin looks dull in the picture. In hand, it isn't, but neither is it real shiny. Yes, the coin has been circulated. Can you help me identify how you can tell that it has been "harshly abrasively cleaned"? I know what that means, I just don't know how to identify.

    Thanks.

Linda: Please post better defined (better lit) photos and you will likely see scratches on the surface of the coin. It's difficult to be definitive from the poorly illuminated photo provided.

Agreed, if that cheek is as clean as it looks, could be a 65/66. Could be a 64 if some marks are hidden by the photo. A larger photo would help to pinpoint a grade.

A larger photo of the 1904O. Thanks for your comments.

  • If the luster is all there, that looks like a 65, shot-66. Well struck for an 04-O, as well.
