Experience the World through Numismatics...it's more than you can imagine.
Ever see an old German states minor in billon? They can have stunningly clean fields, sharp strike, etc.. but because of the material and two hundred years of gravity the high points may be gray instead of lustrous. Usually that's not so much friction, certainly not anything that can be considered circulation, so if it's just so rubbed due to two hundred years of good storage it still is Mint State. That is different from AU, where there may be a few more obvious signs of circulation, heavier bag marks etc.
Just my opinion.
