Jersey 1/48 Shilling Proof

I don't collect these, but the denomation and design caught my eye.

Not the smartest thng I've ever done but now I own this and know next to nothing about it.
What's up with the denomination?
Common or not?
Anything else?

The denomination is the equivilent of the British farthing, although it is not the smallest released by Jersey. They actually released a 1/52 earlier in the series. There have only been 2 Jersey 'farthings' released in the series - the 1/48 and the 1/52. The 1/52 was minted in 1841 and the 1/48 was minted in 1877.
The denominations are actually based on the valuations of French coinage verses British coinage. At the time of the first minted Jersey coinage in 1841, the commonly circulating French coinage was valued at 1/26 vs the British coins, so the Jersey coins minted in British terms at 1/26 and 1/13 were the same value as the common French coins. 30 years later, the valuation on the coins was changed to 1 to 24 (British vs French) and all of the coinage was revalued as 24ths - i.e. 1/24, 1/12 and for one year only, 1/48. That valuation was kept until the island went with the decimal values in the 1960's.
