Home Metal Detecting

I think the MD season is just about over for me this year

No time and what time I do have is spent hunting deer. Too bad too because I was just getting used to the new machine.

Hunting coins is way better than hunting deer.

    Not that I would know.

My peak season for detecting is here, but I haven't gone out since VTH2 back in August.

YIKES!!! Sad day in MD when you are not out. Also your number of posts to the forum (and I guess it seems everyone else's) has diminished quite a bit. Now that I can work my scanner I guess I'll post some older finds that (for me that would only be about 2 mos. worth as I just got my detector in late August) I haven't yet.
  • Bring the detector hunting with you. You may run across a new Cellar Hole or Homestead to hunt.image
  • This past saturday was opening day of deer season. When I got to my favorite hunting grounds I was astonished at the overall destruction of the land. Loggers have just about finnished up in that area of about 4 or 5 hundred acres. The deer have moved out and have taken up residence elsewhere. One of the things that bothered me the most was the disregard of an old homestead, they bulldozed the entire area and made a turnaround for the heavy trucks. Nothing remained except a pile of rocks that was once the approach to the barn door and even that was spread about. There are at least two other sites that I know about that won't get destroyed because they are on another piece of property. Maybe I'll get to them in the spring.
