Program for PSA submission labels

I have written a program that generates labels for use with PSA submissions. These are the labels with the submission number and line number that are attached to the back of the card savers. The labels are printed on standard sheets of Inkjet address labels. For convenience I used Avery label numbers. The program is written in Windows Script Host (WSH). The program basically starts Microsoft Word., asks a few questions about type of label, starting label position, (for partial label sheets), submission account number and line numbers from the submission form. The program then sets the page margins and draws the labels. The program only supports one sheet of labels at a time. For more labels run the program again and change the starting line number. Program does not initiate printing. If you don’t like what you see just close Word and start over. Download the program from the link. The program name is PSALabels.vbs. If your system will not allow a download of a .vbs file then download the file PSALabels.txt. Rename the PSALabels.txt file to PSALabels.vbs. Run the program by double clicking on the icon or file name. To see how it all works just accept the defaults when you first run the program. You may have to maximize Word to see the output. Also print on plain paper to check for alignment. I have tried the program under Win98SE and XP using Office 97, Office2000 and Office2003. As far as copyright: There ain’t no copyright. Do whatever you want to with the program or code.

To download the program, right click on the program link and select “Save Target As”. When the dialog box appears, select the location to download the program to. Important!: On my system the download renamed PSALabel.vbs to PSALabel.mpeg. Before you do the download, change the name back to PSALabel.vbs.

What if you are submitting 5 of the same card? Should you just list thim in each of their own line on the sub form?

I've never once put labels on the card saver, never had an order rejected for it. I usually submit in person, and no one has ever mentioned it. Might be extra work for nothing.

Always looking for Topps Salesman Samples, pre '51 unopened packs, E90-2, E91a, N690 Kalamazoo Bats, and T204 Square Frame Ramly's

I don't think it is completely necessary, but I always do in hopes of expidited service.

I figure there are two reasons for the labels. The first being the whoops factor. Whoops as in grader drops a stack of cards (Not to worry. I am sure the floors are padded) and uses the labels to figure out whom they belong to. Second reason being is the grader has no idea what the card is, uses line number to check what the customer thinks. Then again maybe their like my kids, they just like stickers.

  • Good job Phil and thanks for sharing. Maybe this is something that could be made available on PSA's Submission Center website.

I tend to submit large orders (100-200 cards at a time) and always by mail...I can't imagine just sending in that many cards with no identifier on the Card Saver - it just makes me nervous, so I always spend the time and make the labels.
